I think Chemical Records (http://www.chemical-records.co.uk/) could be added, being one of the best all-genre vinyl distributors I know. Certainly in the UK.

Equally, the wonderful Let's Talk Drum & Bass! (http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=2242766) and Let's Talk Dubstep! (http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=2945218) deserve adding to the links. Lots of extra information about the genres there...

Also, "Europe"? Ouch, man. I don't think we need to be quite so tight on the controls of a thread that is, after all, about a hobby.

Most US junglists would turn their nose up at this setlist, but frankly, I love dancehall dnb. MadCarrot, banging this out to 200+ must have been a hell of a rush.

Dancehall? Jump-up.

On a totally seperate point, does anyone facing doing a collabo DnB mix? I'm sure there's a way to make it happen.

I may get laughed out of SA for this, but here's a UK Hardcore/Trancecore mix that showcases a few artists from the late 90s who pushed the boundaries of the style in a huge way. If you cannot deal with 180 BPM and occasional uplifting piano, then stay away. But overall it's a filthy, melodic, cerebral voyage through Helix, Fury and their many guises. It was basically a way for me to set down in stone the majority of their music and maybe turn on new people to what they did.

Again, I really really cannot wait, there's nothing wrong with Hardcore if you're in the mood. Why do I check this thread at work??

RE: Botanic Gardens set...glad you dig it. This year's derby party is coming up soon, and I am excited to be playing out at the lily pond again this year so look for a recording of that set to be posted up in May.

It got me through my finals revision last year... I got to know it far too well. When "you've just killed James Bond (bond, bond, bond) came on, it was 25 minutes in and I could go stretch my legs.

...wait, is that creepy?

In a thread as rigourous as this, I think that's probably the best comment you could receive. On the d/l now, very excited. Any mix that swings from Boards to Burial has my vote.

Just wanna pick you up on something here... did you rip the track straight from 1Xtra or did you toss some idents over? Either way you're a badman for doing so.

Which is a good thing round my way.

club music is sort of an economy. when a track is hot, it gets dropped everywhere, every night (sometimes multiple times a night). its flooding the market, its everywhere, so its value goes down. even if its a good track, if its reached that state and you play it, youre playing something worthless.

Depends - the pleasure of recognition is something you can't underestimate. If you're about having fun (and granted, sometimes I'm not and I really do just want to explore), well known 'big tunes' serve a great bridges towards what you really want people to hear.

Anyway my main question for everyone here is - I'm in the market for a new set of monitors. I have been struggling by on some admittedly great Logitech computer speakers for a while now, but they don't quite cut it at your average house party. What I need is a pair of speakers that sound pretty nice day-to-day, aren't too big, and won't distort when I turn them up enough to feed a 50-person house party.

Oh, which are up to £200 for the pair. Anybody have any good experiences?

(in return I'll put a mix up :) )
