Beatport is having a $0.99 per track sale for a large part of their catalog right now (basically everything older than august seems to be on sale) until monday, so if you want to stock up on a bunch of 126 bpm blippy 'minimal prog tech-house' tunes that all sound like dubfire, go crazy. i'm using the sale to buy all the big vocal house tunes from the 90's that I don't have

btw is it just me or does Beatport have a whole hell of a lot of charts by people who I have know idea who they are? Kind of misses the point of having charts (so you narrow down the amount of tracks you have to look at by checking out the charts of people you know) if you have to check every one anyway to see what kind of music they're going to be charting (mid-tempo prog-tech-minimal-house probably...)

here is the thing (and I'm not aiming this just at you alman): It's perfectly ok and normal to go through a learning process. everybody does it, everybody has done it, etc etc etc. The thing is, though, don't you want to be known for exceptional output? Do you really want to have a run-of-the-mill piece of artwork (that anybody could have done) out there with your name on it? I went for about a year and a half of mixing before I would let anybody hear any of my stuff. I was mortified of people to hearing my learning process. Go ahead and practice, but no need to subject everybody else to it. Show us you GREAT stuff, not your 'meh, it's ok' stuff.

I mostly like the detroit labels and mostly dislike most of the popular euro labels (thier poo poo is mostly too dark and slow for my taste) but one of my fave new up-and-comers is Logos Recording.
