mingster posted:i posted this in phiz but i guess i'll throw it up here too This mix is a total clusterfuck in my ears. You've got doubled vocals and ambiguous chord combinations all over the place. Its not a contest to see how many tracks you can use in an hour. I like a lot of what you have going on but you really need to thin it out.

I love that track Peep Thong. Bought it a while back. My favorite part is how they literally wrote a measure of music and then used effects on it for four minutes with the occasional addition of disco strings. Its so drat easy to mix!

Shoodz, your mix got pretty weak when you tried to mix in that pirates of the caribbean track too early. You shouldn't have mixed it in until the drop, the intro is really underwhelming especially coming from peep thong, which bangs pretty hard. All in all I really like the mix though.

I've been listening to a lot of Night Slugs releases recently so I was excited when I saw your tracklist, but you need to do some more blending. I've heard most of these tunes from the edge a hundred times. If you listen to Bok Bok's show on Rinse you'll see how its done.

If her opinion is the only one you care about, then why not just ask her? Here I was thinking that you wanted honest opinions from people with more experience than you. Maybe we should have another thread for newbie DJ mixes where we just pat them on the back for figuring out the beatport shopping cart. Seriously, this kind of bullshit is why most of the better DJs from SA stop posting in this thread. You're asking people to listen to an hour of this and then getting indignant when they comment on the track selection.

You mean the Lemur? Using a touchscreen for music has never appealed to me. The tactile sensation of a button, knob, or fader is important to me. I could imagine using one to browse my library, but that's about it.

88h88: That mix was fun. Its nice to hear something other than dance music in this thread. I like that you didn't try to do too much with the blends. They were clean and had purpose. Sometimes newbies forget that at the end of the day you're just trying to get from A -> B. Keep using those ears and let the music speak for itself!

I almost never use pitch lock, and I would never use it if I'm slowing a tune down. It distorts the sound too much and the kick never sounds clean. The bottom line is to just use your ears and figure out what sounds right though.
