I'm going to ask an incredibly dumb question here, but i'm genuinely confused.

So, Tamiya connectors. One plug should have the pins, the other should have where the pins go into to maintain the connection, right? I ordered a Female Tamiya to Male Deans adapter for the charger IOC sent me, because it uses what I thought was a male Tamiya connector. Except... both male and female plugs have pins. Which doesn't really work, as you can imagine.

Charger side:

Adapter female plug:

I fully expect this to be one of those "No, you dumbass, you need this adapter." type of things, I'm just wondering what sort of plug combo I need to make this work. Help me guys, it's been way too long since I've delved into this hobby and everything has changed!

That's what's confusing me. I thought the top one was your standard Tamiya male, it comes out of the charger and looks like you connect it to your battery to charge it, but the pins are throwing me off.

That connector isn't for charging the battery, by the way! It's for the option to power that charger off of a 12V battery with the alligator clips included.

If you bought a Tamiya-Deans adapter, and have no need for it aside from this, lop the Tamiya end off and strip the ends of what is now a Deans pigtail and put them in the spring terminals on the front :)

OH. Ohhh. Yeah, in that case, I can easily make it work. Thanks for telling me about that plug, for some reason I figured it was the charging one :v:

So, this happened today :haw:

It looks worse than it is. Steering arm needs to be popped back on, and I need to replace the front right shock tower. Luckily I had a $10 gift card from Tower Hobbies and they have the parts in stock, so this only cost me about $1.28 after shipping because I sprung for Priority Mail. In the meantime, i'm gonna grab a pair of pliers to pop the steering arm back on where it's supposed to go, and I figure I might be able to model cement the shock tower and have that hold for a bit as long as I go easy on it.

I tried popping it back on by hand, but it was having none of it. You can see it's all still in one piece, the landing just knocked it off.

This, on the other hand... completely sheared in half. S'why I bought a basher though! Honestly, I don't blame the car, this was entirely me. I launched it off a nice jump and it landed directly on the front right wheel on concrete after getting a good amount of air. Totally my fault, I can't fault ARRMA for that one at all. Oh well, it can be fixed and it'll live to drive again.

So, on the subject of NiMH packs and exploding due to charging... The pack that came with my Raider is a 2000 mAh stick. The back of it advises against charging it higher than 1C (I Think it's 1C). Is that just a precautionary thing? The way i've been reading and interpreting this thread and the like, I should safely be able to do a 2A charge on it, right? Or should I just stick to 1A? Educate me on batteries! (Please :v: )

ARRMA wasn't kidding when they said it has waterproof electronics. First snow of the year and I had my Raider out cutting donuts on the road in front of my house, and this is how it looked by the time I got done. I'm impressed, this little buggy can handle anything so far. It's also a total blast to throw around in snow because it just throws rooster tails everywhere :v:

My Revo 3.3 was 4wd and had a 2 speed transmission. It also topped out at 60mph and went over any and all terrain. Maybe go for an E-Revo? They're pretty much the same, except instead of the 3.3 Nitro engine they're brushless electric and much less of a hassle to run and mess with.

Out of curiosity, what's the average run time on most scale crawlers? I keep looking at Axial SCX10s as something to maybe delve into later this summer, just wondering what to expect re: battery life. There's a nice walking trail nearby that goes along and over a creek, figured that might be perfect to take one on.

Apparently they sell an adapter on their site that lets you use an actual RC transmitter with your PC. There's also a free to play version with 8 cars and limited tracks if you guys want to test it out first, they offer it on their homepage.

Tried a new suspension setup last night. Using topcad parts from asiatees, with HPI savage dampers. Also did all the steering, knuckle and lockout components in orange anodized aluminium. Only issue is the springs are way too stiff, and the shocks have a ton of friction in them. I pulled them apart, drained the oil and half filled the shocks with thin oil. Still not loose enough. Maybe they need to be worked a bit ? Also I need some really soft springs. Anyone know where I could get a custom spring ?

Somehow i actually won and became national champion. Since i got sick with cancer i have been just racing on the club level and only 1:10. I started talking to a buddy about how i should convert my xray xb8 to e and have some fun.... He asked me what i felt about Mugen Seiki, i said... nice cars good quality and he walked off. to return with a funny swede who is the team manager for Mugen in europe. who offered me a full ride with sponsorships from AKA, Mugen and he would try to get tekin to renew my contract. They offered me to test drive a buggy, but considering my buggy had three wheel drive and two bent shocks during the last two finals i just agreed. I have some time off later this week so then its time to build my new race rigs.

My goal is to participate in the E-buggy euros within two years. maybe even the worlds. going to be weird racing 1/8 scale without them saying "xray" for the first time...

First digging it out. It was a mess

Cleaning it up

I have a Futaba pistol grip that I lost the battery holder and door for which is one of the reasons I put it away. Found both for around $10 which one I was surprised was available new and two that it was so cheap.

Then I got 2 nimh batteries but found out my old quick charger was no good for them so I got the right charger for them as well.

While searching around I also found some kick-rear end model Hella light bar to put on as well.

New batteries and ESC/receiver wiring all done with new connectors that I now forget the name of but they are great. Small and good positive connections that never get warm so they carry current well.

Some finished hard parking articulation pics. Hella wiring not done yet here

So I've been driving it around some and it's ok but it's slow and I just smoked the windings in the Green Machine the other day. Replaced it with a Slot Machine that I had and it still sucks no matter what I do with the gearing so I broke down and ordered a brushless motor and ESC combo, some replacement ball cups since I snapped one doing sick jumps in the cold the other day, new wheels and tires and some body clips since I had none.

Should be a lot more fun with the new motor and really fun replacing all the weak links I find with it.

This rules! I have an incredible fondness for classic buggies, my uncle had one when I was a kid and the smell of the tires when he first ripped it will forever be stuck in my memory :allears:
