Mine doesn't curl. I just hang it overnight with a clip top and bottom. Come out nice and flat.

I really have no idea, I've never had a problem with film curl with any emulsion really. I've heard of people rolling the film back the opposite way and leaving it for a bit, or you could cut and sleeve and put it under some books and hope that works

I think it works better in colour. There isn't enough tonal separation to really make the black and white work so the colour helps with legibility.
