I'm not saying this just to be contrarian or because I think I'm great, but I'm not that wowed by most of the things in there. There are some shots with really great interesting lighting, but a lot of the shots look intentionally pretentious with overly contrived posing. If you took the "GUCCI" logo off that set of images, would they still be worth looking at?
Maybe that's just how high fashion photography is; I guess it's just not for me.

Think of it like the most complicated and technically challenging music you've ever heard performed as well as anyone can, just you don't like the song. That's how I feel about it anyway.

VVV I was actually thinking of some annoying guitar music that is too complicated and pretentious. I don't really like the photos, but I can see he knows what he's doing with studio lighting.

I work in a metal fabricating shop. I'll make one if someone want's to help with the design. I've never seen a large format back in person. Everything about the camera looks really simple though.

The cost would depend on how many I make. There looks to be almost no material in the camera, so raw cost would be very low. I can have the standards and most of the other parts cut by laser, so if I make a pile of them it would be very cheap.

I just need to know where to get a bellows and I'm not sure about making a back, but if that's not too complicated it's doable as well. Send me as many detailed photos of the construction of everything and how the parts attach to each other.

I'll start a thread and we can get some brainstorming going on if there is enough interest.

The book from Nick Brandt showed up a while ago for me. I'm impressed. It's a very large book with lots of pages. Good quality prints, great photos. Everyone loves it that I've shown it to.

That's like a thousand monkeys on a thousand typewriters kind of thing. How many images do you think the Google cars have taken? It must be millions. Really cool shots though.

Herein I correct my previous statement to "a lot" instead of all.

They still show more restraint than people who push the sliders right and make awful over saturated crap. I think the difference is they take photos of highly saturated colours, but not crank the saturation on the photo after, necessarily.
