Just to answer a few questions that have come up: The latest Graphire Wireless model is officially discontinued. The Intuos4 is a direct replacement for Intuos3. There is a comparison grid for Intuos4 here: http://www.wacom.com/intuos/compare.php The major differences from Intuos3 to Intuos4 are a new pen sensor and the physical controls on the tablet. The 4 has a touch ring now instead of a strip, and the buttons each have a small light-up display to remind you how you have them assigned in different applications. Info on these: http://www.wacom.com/downloads/videos.php?id=22 Also, an advantage with Intuos line is that the bundled PS Elements allows you upgrade to Photoshop CS4 for $299.

thegasman2000 posted:I am seriously looking at the Wacom Bamboo one, Its about £30 off ebay. Has anyone used one? The standard bamboo seems more expensive so I assume its an old model. One of the big differences between some of the entry level Bamboo stuff and the more expensive tablets is an eraser on the pen. If you do a lot of drawing/inking/painting, you might find the lack of eraser annoying.

BrokenCycle posted:I thought they had an eraser, but they weren't pressure sensitive? It's a bit confusing because some models do and some don't, so you have to check closely.

With Intuos4, when you register on the web you can get a few free programs to get started. The PS elements version and the painter sketchpad version allow you upgrade to the full versions for relatively cheap. Info: http://www.wacom.com/intuos/bonus-software.php Register: http://download.wacom.com/

sigma 6 posted:Does anyone know of any vendor that sells 21 inch cintiqs that aren't back ordered? Seems like they are out of stock almost everywhere and where they aren't there is a sizeable markup. Wacom has facing supply shortages for key components related to the screen for a while now. Unfortunately these have have been exacerbated recently by the Japan earthquake.

No sound on this one, but it shows some of the things you can do with importing and working with the vector based art: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhvTQWjLw5g

Raenir Salazar posted:For future reference do ituous4 pens work with a cintiq? There are two generations of Cintiq 21. Intuos4 pens (all besides the inking pen) will work with the newer generation that has the model number DTK-2100. The older Cintiq 21, model number DTZ-2100, uses the same technology as Intuos3 and the Cintiq 12WX.

Space-Bird posted:So, the Intuos 5s are out... I currently have an intuos 3, but unfortunately the USB cable has gotten loose somehow and I occasionally lose my connection to my computer, a super annoying thing. I'm thinking of purchasing an Intuos 5, has anyone had a chance to mess around with them? The pressure level is at 2048, which is a step up...does that have a significant impact on things? Using an Intuos5 now. I can't really speak to the differences in pressure sensitivity because my last tablet was an old basic graphire. However, I have found the multitouch capability to be pretty useful and neat, especially when using the tablet as a mouse replacement all the time. Another thing is that you can get an optional add-on wireless adapter for it, which can be cool for moving the tablet around to get into a more comfortable drawing/painting position. If everything else on your current tablet is still working fine, you can also call customer service and see if they still repair Intuos3 and how much it would cost.

This is definitely true. I usually turn touch input off while in photoshop/lightroom/etc. I mostly like it for vertical scrolling in a web browser and such, since I don't normally have a mousewheel handy.

Listerine posted:I haven't looked closely at those arms, but is the clamp going to damage my table, or leave a mark of any kind? I use this with an older Cintiq: http://www.amazon.com/HP-BT861AT-Single-Monitor-Arm/dp/B00455GH58 It is exactly the same as the Ergotron LX, but the finish is all black instead of black and chrome. (compare to http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00358RIRC) The top part of the clamp is covered in that dense foam rubber padding so it won't hurt the surface. The part of the clamp that contacts the underside of the table is a metal plate which might make some marks, but only where you can't see.

I can't seem to find a way to order a replacement stand by itself though, it seems like wacom wants me to spend $100 on a new art pen to get one and that 'aint happening. https://store.wacom.com/us/en/product/PSTA042
