mobo85 posted:Yeah. Cartoon Brew was sent an e-mail clearly hoping that this would be another My Little Pony, opening with something to the effect of "What's the Care Bear equivalent of a brony? Care Dude? Belly Bro?" The piece quickly spread, and it got so much attention that the Hub themselves sent them a piece basically saying "we didn't authorize this, and we're not trying to compare Care Bears to MLP and/or Bronies." Though one wonders if they weren't hoping lightning didn't strike twice- once something becomes a hit accidentally, marketers are always trying to duplicate it, and Care Bears has a lot in common on the surface with MLP (both '80s girl-oriented properties with characters with symbols which identify their personality traits). Speaking of which, I'm kinda impressed The Hub didn't have a whole to-do about the over the place demographics, you'd think they'd talk more about it from a ratings POV. Cartoon Network seems to have kittens whenever someone who's not exactly in the target demo for a show watches.

I'm in as long as that means that "Things Change" isn't stuck as the last episode of Teen Titans. That's an awful way to end things.

Motercity premiered in the uk. At 7am... Shows how much faith they have in that venture. I give it and Tron a month before they're cancelled in favour of more dramedy bullshit. Shame, can totally see where this can be good. Edit: good lord, what on earth were they doing with the video on that pokemon episode on My recording?! Generator Rex and the previous Ben 10 serie's finales were real under-the-radar, and I haven't seen much promotion of the new Clone Wars season. Do Cartoon Network's axion shows get good ratings? It seems like Adventure Time and Regular Show are the only things it really knows what it's doing with. Yeah, like this is a new thing. Samurai Jack springs to mind. Zeether posted:Speaking of Digimon, that DVD set they released a while back is really good. Not much in the way of extras (why is the Japanese theme music lyrics an extra?) but the video quality is nice and the show still kind of holds up, although the dub dialogue has a fair share of ridiculous lines. To be fair, they toned them way down when it mattered. Sure they were still there (The Ultimate Evil comes with both Hot and Cold watter, don't you know?) but it wasn't a groansome as when Etemon was a thing. Only show I know of that didn't make an utter hash of adoption as a plot line.

So I watched Ultimate Spider-man (The Black Costume episode) because there really wasn't much to do at 8.30am on a saturday morning and I'm convinced if they just did not do the cut always it'd be a serviceable cartoon. A lot of it is explaining the jokes they just made and it's a waste of resources and it's headache inducing. You don't need a cutaway showing Galactus Blowing Spider-man up to explain why him saying "Hand up to Galactus" when he's swearing he's being truthful about who's wearing the venom costume funny, you really don't.
