So I went and watched a movie, and got the one about the guy selling tonics. Laughed. My. Arse. Off.

Goddammit. I'd killed and skinned about 20 wolves and was heading to a store for the sweet sweet cash, and came across a blue dot and some asking help in Mexico. Went along and drew my gun and was auto-aimed at a group of soldiers with a guy tied up. So I tried to bail, just as the guy tried to flee, and was gunned down in a loving second and lost my wolf bits. This game, sometimes, fffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-

What I have trouble with is cheating in the Elegant suit. Even if I stay near the middle, it seems I always end up tipping off at least one guy.

Once one person busts out, it's really dicey cheating on the deal, you just don't have enough time.

John Marston is either supremely confident, pretty stupid, or both. Right at the beginning he strolls up to Fort Mercer all by himself (getting shot for his trouble) but how incredibly obvious was it that De Santa was about to betray him in 'Cowards Die Many Times'? 'No really, the men you are looking for are inside this building. Go on in.' I was expecting to get locked in and have the building set on fire but really as soon as Allende said 'Take care of Senor Marston' the forecast went to Heavy Screwjob with Scattered Backstabbing and a chance of Douchebaggery. It was a little frustrating watching Marston stroll into the incredibly obvious trap, but I reckon that's life on the digital frontier.

I did that mission this evening, and saw it coming so far off, but just had to sit there while he acted like a loving retard. FFS John :ughh:

I had the greatest random NPC encounter while I was playing earlier this evening. I was near Fort Mercer huntinggetting killed by packs of Cougars, when I heard German voices off a path near one of the cliffs. Wandered a bit closer thinking it was an odd place for NPCs to be camping, and saw that it was 3 guys with a shitload of TNT. Then I heard one of them mention something about "...only one little spark" then KABOOM. Giant explosion.

Laughed my arse off.

I'm getting to the point where I ignore all of them. Half the time when someone yells "Help!" they just want to shoot you or steal your horse, so I just breeze past on my way to stabbing cougars to death or picking pretty flowers.

The only one I might (might) stop for is the very rare "Help, they took my wife/husband and they're gonna hang her/him!" You can do that one entirely on horseback and you feel pretty good about it afterwards.

You should still stop for the fake stagecoach holdups. You can kill all the bandits with one Dead-Eye burst, and then you just aim at the girl for ~10sec and she gives you about $50 and runs away. BUT, don't shoot her after she runs away, you lose honour for that.

Rank 4, boars can be found north of McFarlane's ranch near the train tracks and up "the hill" near the boar icon on your map. They seem to like coming out at night.

There's heeeeeeeeeaps of boars around the Hennigan's Stead end of the rail bridge that goes to the Union Pacific rail camp, at the northern edge of Stillwater Creek, day and night. Be warned though, there's also shitloads of cougars who will gently caress your poo poo up whilst you're skinning the boars.

Anyway, the glitches everybody goes on and on about are a complete mystery to me. I've encountered exactly two glitches and they were both the "fly up into the air while taking cover" glitch. I also play it on the X-Box 360 so it's not the port that's bugged, it's just bugged in general (so people seem to claim). I've seen pretty much none of it.

Same. I've only had 2: Once at a duel the screen dipped to black, but then stayed there, requiring a reboot, and after the final Mexico mission John and Reyes just stood there for ages before the cutscene cut in.

Aside from the miscellaneous physics stuff (which is hilarious) there have only been two instances that have really bothered me. Once was in Escalera during the "An Appointed Time" mission. I'd shoot the locks off all of the cells and nothing would happen. It took me 4 mission replays and countless retries from the checkpoint to get it right.

That mission is buggy as poo poo.

I cannot for the life of me find a boar to do the mastery 5 hunting challenge. I'm up around near Thieves Landing at night, like the wiki said, but all I've managed to find is about 5 cougars and a pack of wolves.

Hang around the Stillwater Creek end of the rail-bridge that goes into West Elizabeth. If that doesn't help, head north out of McFarlane's Ranch to the hill past the rail tracks at the base of mountains and lay bait.

So the idea behind making another save is just because you're stuck wearing a particular outfit for the remainder of the game?

No, not exactly. Trust us, just make that extra save, finish the game, and then decide whether you're glad you did or not. I hope you did save before you did the next story thing after that last Dutch mission.

I personally haven't felt the need to use that previous save after beating the game, it's down to your preferences.

Cool, thanks for the info. I made another one before going to see Abigail.

What's the reasoning behind the extra save anyway? I've finished the main story and now just trying for 100% (:argh:Bounty Locations:argh:), and can't really figure out what people were wanting to go back and replay differently.

loving hell, the Friends In High Places achievement is killing me. I tried the method of standing on top of that building across from the Blackwater station, but all the drat cops kept hiding around the edges and on the main street where I couldn't hit them. Tried the Amarillo sheriff's office but one of them kept glitching through back wall and killing me.

Any other good spots to get it?

There's a building on the corner across from the train station with an 'L' alleyway behind it and beside it. The one behind it has a low wooden fence that is effectively an impassible wall for any NPC and in the corner is a small concrete stairway with a metal railing. Just take cover against the corner in the alleyway (across from the stair pad) and shoot anyone that comes down the alley from the main street in front of the train station.

Once you've got the 5K bounty, whistle for your horse and tear the hell out of there and wait for the 'WANTED' to go away. Then turn around and go right back to the train station to use your pardon letter.

The dick move with this is (for me at least) you play through heaps of the game before they start giving you the escort missions, so the first couple that popped up copped a revolver round in the face. Definite dick move.

It was so worth it though. Using the unlocked outfit is giving me so much joy.

Was it that little house with the dock near the rail bridge? I missed that one as well.
