Light Gun Man posted:The tripod certainly does look the coolest for the cheap end of stuff, but I'm noticing it doesn't come with a soldier guy either...guess I might end up getting two. I got the walker together with the two smaller sets: The car isn't all that great, and I'm definitely changing that one up, but it does come with a nice amount of weaponry, and it's enough to make a nice little scene to play with.

I found this quite interesting. It's a guide to build this: Sure, it's very basic for a lot of you, but for many/some it'll be quite interesting or at least a good start to building the really awesome stuff.

You're going to have a blast, I'm sure.

Shuppiluliumas posted:No, you can't. I don't think they could have designed it to work that way because of how thin the minidoll torsos are. The standard minifig neck is the same diameter as a stud. The minidoll necks are 3mm, like lightsaber blades and everything else that clips into a minifig hand.

I love the look on the cashiers face when they realise it's for myself. I'm not ashamed at all, all my friends know about it and occasionally, when we hang out at my place, we empty the bins on the floor and start building and creating awesome stuff while drinking and talking. My room is full of sets, and so far I've only gotten positive responses to it, albeit sometimes a bit puzzled. Like Merchant of Death says: it's just another hobby and as far as hobbies go, building with Lego isn't that odd at all.

Good god, your bookshelf looks exactly like mine. Pratchett top shelf, below that Niven, Reynolds and Asimov, and below that I've got different books, but still, creepily similar. I also read all of Feist (but because I started reading that translated (in Dutch) when I was 12 I don't own them. Definitely going to check out Jim Butcher. You seem to like it so I probably will too.

Those aren't the back pieces, but the the structural beams that you only see because they took apart the segments. Everything put together means you can't see the insides.

To get away from the whole Big Bang Theory/Doctor Who sucks discussion, a friend of mine has the Black Sea Barracuda (6285) and Skull's Eye Schooner (6286), only without the sails. He can't afford to buy new ones but wants to to take a stab at recreating them from scratch, only he needs the dimensions/pattern/template, whatever you call it, to do so. Anyone here happen to have those sets/sails, or know where to get what he needs? It would really be appreciated. e: These sets:
