I don't really have much musical knowledge, but I impulse bought Sonar during a Steam sale a few years back, and have been playing with it off and on since then (and spent way too much money on VSTs I'll probably never use). The results of my songwriting practice are at https://soundcloud.com/the_door_is_scary - hopefully, I'm actually getting better at this.

Trig Discipline posted:I dig the general aesthetic and the sort of aggro punchiness of it. Are these intended to be just sketches of ideas, or full songs? If the latter, you might think about throwing in some bridges or B parts to break things up. As it is it seems like you're pulling parts in and out to add variety, which is definitely worthwhile, but throwing in some more substantial changes will help keep the listener engaged. They're sort of hastily written full songs, but I'm not really sure how to write good bridges or B parts yet - I'm still trying to figure that out. I recently got a couple books on music theory that I've actually started reading, so hopefully, they'll help. One of these days, I really need to get some actual music lessons. Trig Discipline posted:e: that being said I don't do, or listen to, much of that style of music so maybe I'm coming at it with the wrong set of expectations I don't really consider any of my music to be a genre besides "middle aged man gets a DAW and bangs out some stuff with it", so you're coming at it perfectly fine. I really appreciate your feedback! im_sorry fucked around with this message at 03:05 on Feb 2, 2018 |

I have about a minute left on my Soundcloud page for uploads, and I don't really want to delete anything else, but if I want to upload anything, I'm going to have to start deleting stuff. Does anyone here actually pay money to Soundcloud? Are there other services (besides Alonetone, which I already use) that perform similar functions? How do I best preserve my old robot farts and keep the ability to upload new robot farts?

A couple weeks ago, a friend forwarded me a voicemail they received (they work in municipal administration, and the guy had a property covered in garbage and old cars he bought at a tax auction and didn't want to clean up), and I did this with it. https://soundcloud.com/the_door_is_scary/id-like-some-censoreding-names I also did this, with a sample from the final boss fight in Clock Tower 3 and some public domain movie samples. https://soundcloud.com/the_door_is_scary/this-is-the-end im_sorry fucked around with this message at 07:13 on Jun 30, 2022 |

In September, I decided that I needed to be less scared of the record light, so I started making and uploading synth and guitar improv tracks. I impulse bought an electronic drum set on a boxing day sale, so I've been learning drums and using that on most of the recent ones. https://soundcloud.com/the_door_is_scary Of course, when Steamboat Willie went public domain on Jan. 1, I had to do something with it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e956BFlFztk
