Even if I "was" a glory hunter I'd gladly do so for Inter, I just want the best for my team. Assperini has done nothing in his career to signal he is the predigree of coach we deserve, and he will remain Assperini until he can show me he is tactically brilliant, innovative, compromising and most of all, actually win something...anything...

The best part about this is that Gasperini made Thiago Motta and Diego Milito what they were the season before they went to Inter and were instrumental in winning the treble. Also I think he won Serie B.

This is surely a troll but I still laughed

quote:

engand was unluck to not win that cos rooney is the best striker in the world and should have scored 3 and welbek is sgood and shoujld have scored and carol is good annd should have scored and scot barker is good and shold have scored. italy have no world class players unlike england who have rooney barker gerard terry ferdinand hart cole johnson cole milner young and welbeck who played in this game and shoujld have won cos there better players than what italy have got cos theyve got no world class players cos theyve got noone left from when they won the wold cup. hodson should be sacked cos we went out and everyone knos we were the favorites for the torn arment and should have won it as a minimum cos we have world class players through the entire squad. the team needed passion and honesty to win and harry redkapp would have given that to the players cos its what they needed to win. also penaltys should be baned cos we dont win at them ever and its not fare cos we never win at them even though weve got the best layers in the world. How about a transcript of some great moments in Italian broadcasting history (Italy-England)? These are all things RAI commentators said during the match

The last few are
"Maggio crosses to Maggio...oh, no it's Diamanti"
"Buffon catches the balls with his fists"
"In this moment the English players have become real English people"
"Another breathless 15 min....utes. Yes, breathless"
The De Rossi one is only funny because he adds an extra word. He was trying to say "on his hands and knees" which is "carponi" but instead he said "carponi ardenti" which is one letter away from being "hot coals".
"Montolivo's goal is out of bounds"

It'd be a great excuse for a manager who never cared about squad rotation and youth development. Online forums are fun places to poke around, but they're terrible as far as objective, knowledgeable game analysis goes.

Has there been a case where a manager has actually gone to a fan forum and talked to other posters?

I'm not sure about internet forums, but ultras, the manager and team captains meet all the time in Italy. I think it's mostly a way to curb violence and to prevent idiocy more than a tactical thing.

http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/lionel-messi-is-impossible/

quote:

By now I’ve studied nearly every aspect of Messi’s game, down to a touch-by-touch level: his shooting and scoring production; where he shoots from; how often he sets up his own shots; what kind of kicks he uses to make those shots; his ability to take on defenders; how accurate his passes are; the kind of passes he makes; how often he creates scoring chances; how often those chances lead to goals; even how his defensive playmaking compares to other high-volume shooters.

There are about 10 pages of charts in there.

From the comments:

"I have completed an in-depth statistical analysis on the state of affairs across Europe and can now let you know that Frenchman Seurat easily out performed all others in the number of dabs per centimetre but compared unfavourably to Dutch star van Gogh when self-portraits are figured into the mix. Needless to say French star Renoir covers an immense amount of canvas each outing but the outstanding all-round performer is in Holland, where Rembrandt not only covers acres more canvas than his competitors but also easily outstrips even fellow countryman van Gogh for the number of successful self-portraits attempted and completed. Thus Rembrandt is statistically the best and one can only pity the unappealing moneyball of Pablo Picasso, some of whose self-portaits have subsequently turned out to be pictures of a table in his kitchen."

That rules, this guy should post here.
