Who Gotch Ya posted:Yeah dropping straight to x guard rules too. The "pick them up and put them down on their back" move from x guard is so much easier than shooting a double. My go to move is arm drag, if that fails-single, if that fails-drop to x. I don't care how it translates because I'm there to have fun not to win fights.

You can get various arm triangles from that position but you probably won't finish them without turning into them. Most people just can't squeeze that hard.

Though I guess they were close enough to the edge of the mat that you might consider it as being incidental. Avellan probably knew where he was though. Relson would tell you to go to sleep. It really helped my game to focus on relaxing when I'm under side control or half guard. You can defend a lot better and it is easier to get in position for sweeps and transitions.

It is definitely a knee tap. Ebersole likes to do that and mix it up by using it as a strike sometimes. I think he's done it in all of his UFC fights.

Instead of trying to finish the choke, work on holding onto the head and arm while passing to side or mount. Then you'll be in a much better position to finish the choke.

LeftistMuslimObama posted:What's the best way to finish up the RNC if I have very long arms? I have their trachea in the V of my elbow, hand grasping my bicep, other hand on the back of their head. I'm puffing my chest forward and pulling back/squeezing with the choking arm. Despite this, there just seems to be too much space in there and I can't get enough pressure to get a tap or put them out. I've experimented with grabbing my shoulder instead of my bicep, but that seems to move the V of the elbow out of position and turn it into a trach crush with my bicep. It also seems to make it easier to break my grip. I was taught to keep the choking arm relaxed because flexing creates a little space. You should use your shoulders and back to squeeze your elbows together and make sure to keep your head against your opponent's head.

After he got his NY academy to the point where he could spend time away from it he went down to ATT to train for an mma career, but after his first match DREAM basically told him "okay, we'll have a match for you next event" and then... didn't, four times in a row, and finally he just threw up his hands and went back up to NY to teach and keep winning grappling tournaments. Someone that good at pure grappling should never do anything else.
