Speedboat Jones posted:I've been browsing online for how much copies of DQ5 sell for. And I keep coming across: "Warning: This game only works for the DS and DS Lite. It will not work with the DSi." Yes. Pretty sure you can't run a pirate cart on it with default firmware.

khy posted:I have DQ3 questions. I played it eons ago on NES and had fun but now i'm playing the remake on my android phone and I'm wondering about a few things. 1. Unless they changed something in the Android version, books are permanent unless you use a different book or equip an item to change personality (the item-based changes ARE temporary; only while the item is equipped). 2. Wouldn't make a difference unless you wanted to change the personality of your party member while changing the class. Like if you wanted Sexy on them instead of ___, since you're limited on items to change to that it might work best to make one from scratch. Otherwise the only difference is your Wizard>Jester>Sage would have your old Wizard spells during the Jester and early Sage levels, while your fresh Jester would not. 3. I don't think there are any Thief-only stolen items, but the spells they have are really nice throughout the game for finding medals and making sure you aren't missing chests. Any extra equipment, even if it's nothing amazing, is at least money in the bank, and you eventually start getting stat seeds from it later on.

Slayerjerman posted:Priest to Sage with the Book from the tower north of Dharma is your best option, then you can rock the end game team of Hero/Warrior/Sage/Sage I usually start my Warrior as a Thief to get their spells, just so I don't have to look up medal locations when I would otherwise miss some.

Nemo2342 posted:Any advice on how to build out Jade? I just picked her up and I'm starting to feel like I should maybe respec all the points she already had spent and focus in another direction (like maybe spears). Spears are good for her. Thunder/Lightning Thrust are good for metal monster killing and Multithrust is an awesome boss killer. I kept points in her other skills, though. The Spear AOE isn't as good as her Allure option which is supposed to scale off Charm (which she'll have lots of), and the Fisticuffs tree gives you some good general purpose damage skills and boosts Spear damage.

Some Numbers posted:I'm only about 20 hours in and just recently found the Casino in Puerto Valor. Is there a faster way to get to the 150K tokens I need for the good sword and spear than just spamming slots? Double or nothing on the poker table, but Slime Quest is pretty fast anyway. Probably don't worry about those though. You get better things to use the tokens on later, plus more profitable options for gambling.

defaultluser posted:I havn't tried a thief yet, but if I were to guess, they're not going to be designed to carry a party. Just eyeing the wiki page, their skill set and weapon selections are mostly support. I'm pretty sure the fighter's stat growth except for luck is better too. I usually keep the thief until I've got all its abilities since it means you don't have to keep a walkthrough on hand for medal hunting, then switch it to something better

Amppelix posted:Speaking of being at the abbey, should i be looking up the vocations, unlocks, etc? Am i fine just giving everyone whatever job strikes my whims or will i get punished if i don't optimise? There is a point later where one of your characters is removed from your group for a stretch of time, so don't make any one of them completely indispensible. Get a little role redundancy planned.

Len posted:I probably posted it in this thread but I didn't trust Sylv at first. I figured he was actually a criminal setting the hero up for more trouble Rab's isn't bad, but all the rest either are unnecessary padding or actively ruin what is otherwise a great reveal later in the game in the original version. And Rab's isn't good enough to make up for that.
