So the final (I hope, it's the one after Tickington) superboss in DQXI wiped the floor with my level 75 party. Does the bonus for Hallelujah count for all enemies in a combat, or just for enemies currently in combat? I was thinking I could use that then the summon metal monsters pep, would that work?

Kuros posted:It works for the whole combat. In fact, the recommended setup is Hallelujah then Electro Light. At level 75 you should be summoning a King and two Liquids so it should only take 3-5 battles to get to 99. Nice, I'll give it a try after work. Thanks!

Waltzing Along posted:DQXI. I just got the boat and found the casino nearby. Should I start gambling for stuff now or wait a bit? I have 10k roughly. How much do I need to win to get whatever I need? Go for the recipe books but ignore everything else. You'll get the new weapons in chests in a few hours, and the bonus XP and GP from the vests cap at ~10 per fight.

Waltzing Along posted:Are any Tickington guys hidden? So far I've found them right on the story path. If you check the info screen it will tell you where every tockle is as you unlock locations. They're pretty much listed in order you can unlock them, so don't worry if theres one at the end of the list you can't find. The one that got me was you can find out about the Tockle in Gondolia on your first visit, but he's behind the silver key door.

Waltzing Along posted:Also, summoning the whale is a massive waste of time, too. Hop on a horse and it will skip the cutscenes, though you still have to listen to the jingle. The horse hailer works in a surprising amount of places.

The game is what you play until you see the credits. Anything after is the postgame. Then you hit the post-postgame. Alan Wake runs into the post-post-post-post-postgame, it's really quite simple

Kuros posted:The only thing I didn't beat in DQ11s is the Timewyrm because I have stronger monsters on and he kept wrecking my poo poo. That thing was absolutely not worth the effort to kill. I got to the fight and lost before I got a second turn, even after beating all the other postgame bosses, and decided it wasn't worth my time to beat it. Then I spent ten hours grinding everything I needed to kill it and I'm not really sure why.

Evil Fluffy posted:DQ7's claim to fame is that it made me realize, no, I actually didn't want a 100+ hour long Dragon Quest game. Evil Fluffy posted:You are not allowed to post stuff like this without a link to where I can buy it. https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonquest/comments/yvtbh5/new_merchandizing_in_japan_lottery/ It's apparently only available as a lottery prize from a specific store in Japan. If you go get one get me one to please.

Sherbert Hoover posted:Replaying DQ11 and Vince just gets away with murdering all those people, huh? For some reason I remember him being a more sympathetic character. Yep! I remember it being kind of jarring on my first playthrough. He even admits what he's done and the crowd is still cheering him on, it's one of the weirder story beats of the game.

I spent all of Act 1 waiting for Sylvando to betray the party and turn out to be evil and it just never happened. 10/10.
