I too am playing 11 on the Ps4 for the first time and loving it. It's such a feel good wholesome story book kind of game, good for forgetting about garbage irl stuff. I haven't played a DQ since 8 on the ps4 but even so everything still feels really cool and familiar. I just made it to octagonia after spending way too much time in the casino with my homie Goolysses. Haven't hit a jackpot anywhere yet but I did go over 100k tokens playing so I got the stuff I feel was the most immediately necessary. Hero is 1h cause I like having metal and dragon slash, Erik is daggers, but I'm greatly awaiting putting some points into swords so he can use all those sick nasty dual wielding skills for even MORE damage, Sylvando is useeng wheeps honey and hits as hard with his rose whip and hero does with his 1h casino platinum sword so I'm very happy with him. Veronica hits super hard too with those spells but I'm not sure about Serena with wands, I don't know if 2hing those or going spear will be better for her in the long run. Haven't gotten the last 2 chars yet but I know axes and claws are involved so spears might just remain unused.

Do the money/exp casino vests have to be equipped on someone in the live party for the bonuses to apply?

Yes. But, they have a super low cap on the bonus they grant so you're actually better off without them.

Slime Quest having like 10 pages of incomprehensible instructions that don't matter at all because the game is just a bunch of random nonsense and trying to play manually merely giving you the illusion of control is like the most realistic thing I've ever seen in any videogame.

Not really surprising at all.

DQ Walk was apparently built up around Japan specifically and doing the same for ROW would be a big undertaking unless they just buy Niantic's data off them (good luck) or something similar. Though it would be nice if they did it anyways.

DQMSL is a trainwreck of a game and they had a SEA version in English that lasted maaaaaybe a year. It was badly designed and the rarely-available material quest for SS upgrade materials had super inflated stats on the enemies so runs took forever (or a lot of gems on revives) and still had a very low rate for getting any SS upgrade materials, let alone ones you needed.

Yeah I figured that in about 5 mins in and just mashed up the rest of the time. Still love it for some reason though haha. Probably cause outside of lucking out with regular slot jackpot it's still so far the fastest way to consistently make them casino coins. And shame to hear the coin and exp vests suck, ah well. So the final (I hope, it's the one after Tickington) superboss in DQXI wiped the floor with my level 75 party.

Does the bonus for Hallelujah count for all enemies in a combat, or just for enemies currently in combat? I was thinking I could use that then the summon metal monsters pep, would that work?

It works for the whole combat. In fact, the recommended setup is Hallelujah then Electro Light. At level 75 you should be summoning a King and two Liquids so it should only take 3-5 battles to get to 99.

Save before doing it however because you could get killer bots instead and I'd just reset when that happens.

I mean, those play times are always highly subjective anyways. I play games slowly, so despite having played the PS4 version, I might well have taken closer to the predicted 10.

Replaying XI, and that section where you're supposed to sneak around the guards in the one port town is still some hot garbage. At least going in and just wrecking EVERYONE is an option, because that is where my game would come to a screeching halt if stealth was required.

Can I pump points into Swords and Greatswords on the hero to get Swords Dance, and then drain all the points out of Greatswords, or will that take away Swords Dance since it's a hidden panel? It's in Swordmastery, so I was thinking it'd work like getting Hustle Dance early.

Sword Dance would re-lock without the adjacent greatsword panel that unlocks it. But you can save a little SP by resetting the greatsword section, rebuy only the needed panels starting from the swordmastery section, and skip the normal starting panel at the bottom.

I started VIII on the 3DS recently, and am about 3.5 hours in. I did the waterfall dungeon and the tower dungeon so far. I think both characters are around level 11. I have a few questions:

When does the combat get a bit more involved? I levelled swords on the main character, but the first ability he gets does more damage against dragons...and I'm just fighting slimes and bugs and poo poo, why do I need a dragon killing ability so early in the game? So it's literally just auto attacking and healing and that's fine for now, but I hope it gets a bit more interesting soon.

Is there a recommend way to spend my skill points? I did swords for the MC and Clubs for Yangus because those were the weapons they had and it seemed to make sense.

If I avoid most of the trash fights as I run around, will I be underlevelled? Obviously I'm fighting some stuff, but I'm not going out of my way to grind. The first two dungeons have been relatively painless, but I'm wondering if it'll start to ramp up if I avoid too many fights.

You'll start to get more party members soon, just keep going and then it will get more complex.

You get 350 skill points in total through level ups without using Skill Seeds, so you can get 3 skills to 100 and another halfway.

My suggestions for Hero and Yangus: Hero - Swords 100, Spears 59, Courage 100, Fisticuffs 11. This is only 270, you can put the other 80 wherever you want. Spears 59 is very important for Lightning Thrust for Metal Farming. 11 for Fisticuffs gives you Defending Champion which is a stronger defense skill which is nice if you need to tank a hit. Swords and Courage are his best skill trees IMO.

Yangus: Axes 100, Scythes 100, Humanity 82, Clubs rest of points. Axes and Scythes are his best weapons. Humanity up to 82 gets you Kerplunk, which is great for late game, plus he gets other good spells like Heal, Midheal and Kabuff. Get Axes up quick for Hatchet Man and then Executioner for Metal Farming.

As for farming, if you find a boss to be too hard, just grind a bit for a couple of levels and you should be fine. Eventually you'll be able to grind of Metal Slimes/Liquid Metals/King Metals and since the 3ds version allows you to see enemies and also spawn and despawn them, it's much easier to metal grind on the 3ds version. Once you find Metals to grind, feel free using Thunder/Lightning Thrust and Hatchet Man/Executioner.

skills in dq7 seem more complex than they really are, since there are no resets. level up a weapon skill and a non-weapon skill. that's all you really need for any character, and any combination of such skills works. without skill seeds (which can eventually be farmed) , you'll realistically cap two skills with about 50 points to spare by the end of the main story. it can however be helpful to sink enough into hero's boomerangs and yangus' fisticuffs to get target-all attacks (firebird throw and thin air) to speed up clearing random battles.

I played it on Switch and it chunks up in ways that I don't think it does on the other two, this was just based on watching videos though so I don't have any firsthand experience. If I had to replay it though I would pick a different platform.

I don't know for certain but I thiiiiiiink the demo is like a smaller island so it runs better and therefore doesn't give you a good example of how it's going to run on the regular size maps.
