The whole point of stats are lost if you keep it a secret. Why Didn't you tell the world eh?
I came across this nice map locating where most of the major events are throughout the region. It probably hasn't gotten everything but I haven't come across a better one yet.

google map from SBS news

EDIT: Unless someone has seen a better one, then something like this might be useful in the OP.

Err... but they have shifted to a supporting role after a few days of being the major force. That line doesn't suggest the whole conflict would last days though.

Pretty irrelevant but Australia now recognises the TNC as the legitimate representatives of the Libyan people.

Rudd backs Libyan rebel council

Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd has recognised Libya's rebel council as the country's legitimate political representative and warned Moamar Gaddafi that his days are "well and truly numbered".

"We do not recognise governments, we recognise states," he told reporters at a summit aimed at backing the Benghazi-based rebels against the defiant leader's rule.

Mr Rudd called the Transitional National Council (TNC) "the legitimate interlocutor of the Libyan people," and added: "we use that formulation deliberately."

He predicted Mr Gaddafi's end may come soon.

"The emerging consensus view among this group of foreign ministers is that Gaddafi's days are well and truly numbered," he said, adding that the end "may come sooner than many of you in this room may think".

Mr Rudd was not alone in giving his backing to the TNC.

A senior US State Department official said American secretary of state Hillary Clinton also described the rebel council as "the legitimate interlocutor" of Libya.

Ms Clinton "used the word 'the' rather than 'a' in describing the TNC as the legitimate interlocutor for the Libyan people through this interim period," the official said.

"This is our own signal of moving toward that transition of working with the TNC on its own roadmap through this interim period," he said.

Other countries, including Britain, Italy, France and Spain, have already recognised the TNC and have broken links with Mr Gaddafi.

Two dozen countries, including the US, Britain, France and Italy, as well as delegates from the United Nations, the Arab League, the African Union and the Organisation of Islamic Conference are attending the summit in in Abu Dhabi.

The talks among the powers came amid continuing explosions in the Libyan capital.

I get the impression from this that you think it's the fighters from Benghazi, where the NTC is based have stormed through central Libya and joined with Misurata and are now freeing the areas around it.

In reality. The eastern fighters from Benghazi are holding onto the east without advancing much. The central area such as Sirta is still Ghaddaffi controlled.

In the west there are two(ish) groups that are fighting under the banner but are operating relatively independently. You have those from Misurata which have been expanding around that area and then in the south west you have the mountain fighters of Nalut and the surrounding areas which have secured border crossing with Tunisia for supplies and have been making their own gains. I think these two are looslely attempting to meet around Bani Walid and cut off Sirte, whilst taking care of their own areas.

So what the gently caress did he do then?

If I recall correctly, he was attempting to evacuate his family out and intended on returning but his pilot ditched him or something when he saw the revolution was a success leaving an angry Ali behind. It wasn't such a voluntary leaving.

Obviously with the fall of his regime, returning after that point would have just enabled his capture for the inevitable trial and punishment. So I guess he's been staying out of sight since.

The interesting thing with this is that he still quite clearly has both ears and the source of the bleeding head wound is too high and forward to be a torn off ear as some suggested. In fact it looks a bit like it's coming from approximately where the bullet wound is meant to be.
