The only two that I can think of, aside from Logan, that they had access to were Deadpool and Sabertooth. Deadpool was considered a failure but why they didn't try with Sabertooth is a bit of a mystery. Maybe they just couldn't locate him at the time? All the others that have popped up since then they probably don't know about or can't get to.

They actually did this in Ultimate X-Men, Sabretooth got the same treatment (except he had four claws). He also claimed to be Wolverine's son. Both of these were quickly forgotten and ignored by every subsequent writer.

Why do people not like Juan Jose Ryp? I love him he's one of my favorites :( His work on Wolverine the Best there is was great. It was really toned down somewhat and looked great, at least i thought.

He's definitely not a bad artist I think sometimes his art is just so detailed that it can become confusing.

DC is cancelling his Hawk and Dove...and giving him three of the other 52 titles.

Including Grifter. I was enjoying Grifter too (read the first two issues, now I'm trade waiting for it) - I'm sure Liefeld is a nice guy,and unless I'm reading it wrong, he's not actually doing the art, but him getting his creative sticky fingers on a good title, in 2012, is depressing.

This is his take on Deadpool (well, the Deadpool Corps). Bear in mind, he was the one who created the character....

I hate how his Deadpools always seem to have a black hole in the center of their face sucking the mask inward.

Lobok posted:

If we're to disregard the real reasons they are given muscles, Superman's alien physiology easily handwaves away a lot of things, like how the lenses of his eyes can focus unimaginably far while never being any bigger than an average human's. Maybe he doesn't need to work as hard at building muscles as we do or his body works like a regular human's up to a certain point past which Kryptonian super blood takes over and provides the rest of his strength or abilities.

Spider-Man isn't necessarily all that big. There are so many variations from artists that there's no one true look to Spider-Man, either in size or definition. But the spider bite didn't just grant him magic powers; it changed his body. The same way a lanky boy's body is suddenly much more receptive to muscle building through puberty could be the same process going on after the bite. Puberty 2.0 essentially. You could also wonder why a spider bite would correct his vision.

Spider-man usually is said to vaguely have some improved healing, not as extreme as wolverine but more like healing from broken bones and bruises over a few days instead of weeks. I suppose that could justify greater ease in building muscle as well as his vision self-correcting.

Personally I have much more hate for Land. Not even for the fact that he lightboxes photos, but that he blatantly traces the work of other artists and passes it off as his own which is just morally reprehensible.

Like Hakkesshu said, Liefeld got too famous too early in his career and just coasted on his popularity instead of working to improve himself. If he had committed himself it's very likely we'd view him much differently today.
