If you go to Vegas and have some time to kill in an afternoon go here:http://www.pinballmuseum.org/

TLDR: Its a huge warehouse of all working and playable pinball machines about a mile off the strip. If you remember some old pinball machine at the pizzeria down the street when you were a kid, there's a very high probability they have it. Spend 5 bucks here and have fun for an hour instead of pissing it away in 2 minutes. :haw:

Yelp page if you're all into that: http://www.yelp.com/biz/pinball-hall-of-fame-las-vegas

I go here every time I visit and every time I bring someone new they piss and moan about it being a waste of time before we get there and by the time we leave they have the biggest shiteating grin on their face from how much fun they had. Do it.

I'd try to flip flop your first night. Go out man, its Saturday night! drink a bunch of energy drinks or something to keep up and then sleep in Sunday.

Also if you got time to kill during the day, you could hit this place up. super nostalgia if you're into stuff like this. I had a pinball machine I played the poo poo out of in a pizzaria as a kid and they had the same machine.

Great way to waste a few hours for the equivalent of about 3 hands of blackjack. :)

I always check here too along with promo emails from casinos: http://smartervegas.com/

Click the hotel you're interested in on the left or add a date and they have an aggregation of promo codes you can use. You click book on their page and it directs you to the hotel's page with a promo code.

Example: they have a promo code on there for Stratosphere for $23 a night. :)

There's a bunch of other options, but I've only ever used it for hotels and a couple shows (50% off bluemangroup tickets I think way back)

I know debit fee's are pretty high down there.

In-room safe.. are they safe?

thanks

Is it not possible to buy it all into a VISA/AMEX debit card? Seems shady to carry all that cash on you, but that's just me.

Its going to be pretty tough. My pops lives in the area of the red rock Casino and while its a beautiful area to go hiking and running etc, not exactly so much for partying on halloween. Going ANYWHERE is going to be a shitshow that night, honestly if you can, cancel and try to go somewhere close/on the strip, or just plan to park early in the day on halloween at one of the casinos and not expect to leave until the next day. Redrock is a resort to hang out and play golf and relax at, and is largely locals vs the strip.

I am actually going to be there too over halloween and booked rooms on the strip for less than 100 a night which us a good deal considering its halloween and there's a huge auto industry event going at the same time.

IP is in a nice location but its also joked as being the worst on the strip right before stratosphere which arguably isnt even "on the strip" because its so far aay from everything else. If you can pay a couple bucks (barely more) and stay at Bally's which is a decent midldle ground spot, if you tip the desk clerk 20 bucks and kindly ask if there are any complimentary upgrades available you can get a suite when you check in. Anecdotal evidence but it has worked for me 3/3 times. :)

Book with this url which has a promo code: https://www.totalrewards.com/hotel-...ionalcodes.aspx

read more about the 20 dollar trick so you dont :spergin: and gently caress it up.

Yes, I said it. The place is a goddamn shithole, your lungs hurt after being in there and not smoking, and you should only ever get bottled beer/bring your own to the floor which they apparently allow/tolerate. But god drat if this place with it's ultra low-limit craps for being right in the middle of the strip isn't a perfect hidden gem for when you just want to not stop playing craps for 5 hours and not actually win/lose anything but maybe some lung capacity and a bit of your decency. I read that their hotel upstairs is actually okay/not a drug den, which is good!

That and the liquor there is goddamn cheap if you decide to stick around. The drinks might be slightly watered down but when you can get said drinks/shots/beers for under 2 bucks each, who's complaining?

Parroting smartervegas.com as where I go for deals. Find a hotel you'd like and theres a couple promo codes. Click through on all the deals, often times deal 3 might be better than deal 1 or 2.

here are some mid strip recommendations smack dab in the center that are on the lower/inexpensive end. I found a ultra loving cheap promo code for the quad (20 bucks a night), so if they really want to be as cheap as possible that's your go-to. Here are rates + the promo code you need to use for a few hotels.

HOTEL - CODE - TOTAL PRICE FOR 4 NIGHTS
quad - IIFNF - $104
Harrashs - ILFN - $229
flamingo - IFNF8 - $256
Ballys - IBFFP - $332

I pulled the rates from smartervegas.com, if you find better rates let me know because I'll start using the site you find. :)

I'm going to be in vegas this weekend for the Viva Las Vegas event at the orleans, staying at the monte carlo. Never been to this event and never stayed at the Monte Carlo but I go to vegas at least once a year; anyone stayed at Monte Carlo or gone to Viva Las Vegas with any good ideas/tips? Monte Carlo always seemed kind of boring to me but it worked out being the cheapest "ok" room near the Orleans by the time we booked. :sigh:

- Actually part of the promo for the room was like 50 bucks dining credit, are any of the food places in there worth a poo poo?

Yep. You'll be just fine eating and drinking there.

I'm sure my experience was localized to just me but we had a terrible time here.

Waiter was condescending as gently caress for some reason, we got our meals before our appetizer so we asked to cancel the appetizer. It came out anyway 10 mins later and we were given a hard time when we turned it down. The Burgers we got were dry even when asked to be done medium (turns out they just have them precooked and sitting there which is why the burger came out in less than 5 mins) and 2 of them were cold.

The guys on the dueling pianos were good at least. :sigh:

And I'm definitely doing the Pinball place. It's this place: http://www.pinballmuseum.org right? And you pretty much just show up with your money, make change, and play til your hearts content? I thought I'd heard there was a way to pay for a full hour of pinball time. But I may have just dreamed that. - Its basically just a big pinball arcade. Bring like 20 bucks and you'll be square. Go get your rear end kicked on Black Knight 2000.

Ballys is definitely more run down than the others last I went so it wouldn't fit the modern luxury requirement at all, but they also are right in the middle of the strip and they're usually really inexpensive.

Doing the $20 trick has gotten me a suite every time I've stayed as well as long as you're polite and ask nicely too even though I paid for the bottom tier room.
If you aren't planning on using the hotel amenities or staying in your particular hotel check it out if its in your budget, just don't plan to wow your spouse with the room unless her expectations are really low, even with the suite. :haw:
