its comedy, literally one of the most subjective art forms possible. I though the xmas song and the sabaton one were amazing, some of the others are lame to me, but they definitely have the knack for nailing the sound they are parodying, even if the song itself is meh.

Yeah, when I saw them, they opened with the "uranus" one and then did one in Italian and I kind of felt disappointed because it was like "oh they're talented when I can't understand their dumbass lyrics"

I actually preferred the dude, the vocal fry/distortion added some much-needed grit to the sterile production. Still a lot of good stuff going on (I really like some of the vocal melodies and the drums are pretty sick), but something about the production strips it of the intensity it should have. It's something I've noticed in a lot of recent power metal, the UtA song posted above gives me similar vibes. Not trying to yuck anybody's yum, just something that's been on my mind lately.

I def agree with you and know what you mean. I love melody in metal and have always wanted to get more into power metal but what you described is the exact reason I cant.

I think a big part of it too is people going "HELL YEAH AWESOME" at the goofiness of the band/videos (not a critique, thats the point!) but if you just listened to the track then even electronic dance music seems less produced compared to it.

It's really good. So weird to hear them with decent production though. The new(ish) drummer is much better technically than Chad Wells was, but his patterns are far less interesting imo.
