Someone should make an Opeth thread because I want to talk about how pretty I think The Night and The Silent Water is.

fake edit: it is very pretty.

I remember seeing them live once, and Mikael told the crowd about how he wrote the song after his granddad died, and everyone went 'Awwwwwwwww'. It was a bit of an odd moment.

I just saw Blind Guardian in Melbourne. They were loving awesome.

I am currently trying to figure a way into Valhalla. WHO WANTS TO COME WITH ME?!

They absolutely destroyed in Sydney, too, in spite of the fact that Hansi looks way too much like a maths teacher, or your best mate's dad playing at being metal.

Note: Entirely in Finnish

Basically it's a documentary trailer about Finnish black metal (manly music according to some interviewee). Every third or fourth word is translated as "gently caress" or "drat"

This video is incredible...

Submitted for your approval: Virgin Steele - Perfect Mansions.

So much to love about this video. Sword-torches, a castle, some very impressive stage moves, and a handful of cutting-edge video effects such as INVERT COLORS. I know if I have a high note to deliver after a guitar solo (6:20 in if you want to skip to the glory), I'm running my rear end down the side of a hill like I'm being chased by bees. I have to say this is the most unintentionally funny video I've seen in a long time.

Can anyone identify what the hell he's holding in the living room parts around :53 seconds in? A metallic loofah sponge? A bronzed pufferfish? Dog toy?

I think we might be witnessing the grim birth of a new genre of heavy metal: Dad Metal. Metal for dads by dads.

Odd question, but does anyone have the lyrics for Gallowbraid's 'Ashen Eidolon' album?

Everyone who likes prog or avant-garde metal should be familiar with Alchemist. They were one of my favorite bands for a long time, particularly with their albums "Organasm" and "Austriel Alien". They are broken up now, but they still rule and should not be forgotten.

While it might sound like it might be lame as poo poo, Alchemist's cover of Jeff Wayne's 'Eve of the War' is an incredible song, and people would tear the place up whenever they played it live.

A few pages ago, regarding an interview with Tuomas Huolopainen, someone said that they should ask him "describe yourself without using the words 'poet' or 'child'".
...well, noisecreep took him to Disney Land.
He sounds a bit like Michael Jackson.

I, too, would love to hear his soundtrack to 'The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck'.

For those, like, two goons besides me who still sincerely like Nightwish: They put up a new official live video of Ghost Love Score, with Floor Jansen still on the vocals. I just can't loving believe that woman, her performance towards the end of the song is absolutely stellar.
I guess you could even say she completely floored me. :downsrim:

Still hoping to loving God they hire her permanently after the tour.

I used to be heavily into Nightwish, but hadn't really listened to them that much since Once. I went to a their recent live show in Sydney on a whim, and was also floored by Floor. She's by far the best fronts woman the band has ever had, that video didn't even capture half of the energy she brought to the live show in Sydney. I might even count myself genuinely interested in their next album if she stays on, and not just in a 'what the gently caress has Mr Soulful Poet Tuomas written now' sense.
