DEAR RICHARD posted:The official video of the metal thread Reminds me of these dudes (went to high school with them) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amFjghL6EXA They do a really good job at generic 80s heavy metal, but I really don't give a poo poo about throw back bands since I could like listen to an album from 30 years ago instead of them

Thanks to who ever posted Decrepitaph several pages ago because it ruuuuuules so hard. I had no idea Razorback put out good music. I've been listening to Blaspheme and Sortilege a lot. I'm surprised it took me this long check out the French heavy metal scene, it rips so hard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SodwO2WJUKw

Wyzt posted:I don't think theres any thrash bands from the last 10 or more years that I can stand listening to anymore apart from Birth AD(aka warbringer sucks) Pretty much the only new thrash to give a gently caress about are bands you're friends are in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bX8Aj00xQkM Oh man that Nile song is TERRIBLE. They've finally put out something awful. Good for them. Well the guy who made that song is also responsible for some of the most iconic 80s hip hop songs (Beastie Boys, Run DMC, 99 Problems) and a ton of metal production (uh Slayer, Danzig). And the song is probably like 8 years old now, so its not really nowadays. Live Undead and Haunting the Chapel are my favorites. Not really into Reign in Blood and everything after. Except for the hardcore album, that one rules.

Great Horny Toads! posted:I've thought the same for a while. Stumbled upon a drum circle, not long after watching that there Headbanger's Journey, and thought, "Leather-lunged vocals soaring over super-heavy bass, eh?" It's crazy how badass and intimidating that can sound. Like, it was just 6 dudes and one drum, but it sounds like a whole army when done well. So many Native metalheads, but no bands. It would be interesting to hear what they come up with, as their cultural wounds are so fresh. South/Central America seems to have a ton of bands like that, at least according to this thing I just stumbled on (warning most of these songs are bad): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43r74ViCKB0 There's also Mictlan from Mexico who play primitive death metal with native themes

TheForgotton posted:This is hilariously awesome. I had this on in the background without bothering to look at the lyrics, but I thought I heard him say "Unicron" so I went back and started it over. Though not really metal, there is an awesome bro hardcore band from the late 90s with Transformers themes called Shockwave. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-O4VGTDNOs
