I've only just now gotten a few good listens on the new Nucleus and Flesh of the Stars albums (both kick rear end, btw), and I was wondering if y'all musician goons have some sort of rig rundowns online that I could read or watch, being interested in the technical side of things among other things.

Wyzt posted:Man I'm pretty incompetent. I'm not much of a gear guy. I pretty much only run through a volume pedal->ISP Decimater noise gate->Carbon Copy(that I turn on for rare weird parts)->5150 Cabs. Thanks! This is detailed enough to give a decent picture. I did a rundown of my gear as used on Ever Circling Wolves's Of Woe... back in 2013 or 2014 (we recorded the guitars in 2012 and 2013) and it's up on our seldom-updated blogspot if anyone's interested. I've since opted out of using the fx loop on my amp and bought and built a shitload of pedals to replace the ones I used back then. We meant for the other guys to post about their stuff, too, but they never got around to it. I guess they're not that much of gear guys either.

Nordick posted:What's tickling me the most is that they're namedropping Harmaja, who are possibly my #1 favourite non-metal band. Not that I'm expecting the album to actually sound like them, but the influence can't hurt. They might actually be namedropping the early 20th century Finnish poet Saima Harmaja who wrote poetry filled with misery and died young. Or maybe it's both. Siivola posted:Yeah. I'd basically never even listened to Mokoma before, but I couldn't pass up a free gig. From small to bigger: Hard Rock House (Roihuvuori) Oranssi (Suvilahti) Cactus (Käpylä) Lepakkomies (Kallio, though it was recently water damaged and gets renovated later this year) On the Rocks (center) Semifinal (Kamppi) Kuudes Linja (Sörnäinen) Tavastia (Kamppi) Korjaamo (Taka-Töölö) Ääniwalli (Vallila) Nosturi (Punavuori, will close down at some point) I probably forgot something and none of these are exclusively metal venues. I also left out The Circus, though there's a bunch of metal gigs there, because it sucks rear end as a venue but unfortunately with its 1500 people capacity it's probably the only place in Helsinki that's sized between Nosturi (900 people) and the ice halls (up to 15 000 people). Edit: I forgot Loose (Kamppi) and there's nowadays another On the Rocks somewhere in Kallio I think.

I remember glacing over a piece of news that they'd kicked out their original vocalist, can't remember if they gave a reason. I saw ...and Oceans (and Thyrane and Trollheim's Grott) do a sort of reunion show a year ago maybe and Kenny was still fronting them then.

Dunno if Concrete Winds has been mentioned, but they were one of the last bands I saw live before gigs were cancelled and they kinda blew me away too. Some war-ish dm, I guess, features 2 of the 4 guys that comprised the now defunct Vorum, if that name rings a bell. https://concretewinds.bandcamp.com/releases

The 2 dudes in Grima are also in Ulthar which is FKA Deafknife, a post-black band with no sketchy connections that I can find. They're also both in Second to Sun who seems sketch free. Small correction: the 2 dudes in Grima are also in Ultar, which is indeed FKA Deafknife. Ulthar is a US band (and there's also a Polish one with one demo which might be sketchy, I didn't research them that well yet).
