Sab669 posted:So I guess this isn't really metal, but have any goons checked out Storm Corrosion? I just listened to one of their tracks on YouTube, sounded decent enough. I figure what the hell, whether I like it or not I'm okay with giving Akerfeldt my money. It's pretty 'out there' and a Youtube poo poo rip won't do any justice to Steven Wilson's sublime production skills. Buy a legit copy.

Baron Von Ghoulosh posted:I've never really understood the great appeal of "moshing". I mean, it wasn't even really a metal thing to begin with. Why it has ever gone beyond the original hardcore punk scene surprises me? I can see bands on stage getting a rise out of it seeing a whirlpool fans just reacting to their performance, but as a fan, what in the hell makes you want to roll around with a bunch of sweaty dudes? Hardcore dancing? It's lame and you look like a gay power ranger doing it. You say that you've got all this pent up negative energy you need to release? Get laid or go run around the block 5 times. Most of the meatheads I've seen "moshing" at shows don't look like they would even know who's playing on the stage. They're just there to get their "mosh" on. Maybe it just proves to be a good opportunity to grope other sweaty guys. go to a good Thrash show, like Toxic Holocaust or something, and get in the circle pit and you'll understand.

Tshirt Ninja posted:I'm just starting to get into metal and I'm still trying to figure out what I like. I saw Brutal Truth, Dropdead and Nasum live and I'm positive that I like grind, but then I went to a doom show (Church of Misery and The Gates of Slumber) and it reminded me a little too much of 80s hair metal. I do also like Withered, Dimmu Borgir and Amon Amarth. So what do I listen to next? Terrorizer, Insect Warfare, gently caress The Facts, Graf Orlock

If you like old-school Death Metal then you should listen to Witchrist. These dudes are from New Zealand (which has also given us awesome bands like Ulcerate) and kick all kinds of rear end. Their latest album was released on Osmose Productions and it slays. Click me! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfLm9WFvkQk \m/

Yeah that whole 70's influenced occult-rock thing can be pretty cool. I really like Occultation, mainly because the riffs are buried under a shitload of reverb courtesy of the same dude that plays guitar in Negative Plane.

I assume it's a tour because it's Napalm Death, Speedwolf, Exhumed and Municipal Waste and Speedwolf isn't on the Barge to Hell (as far as I know) and it'd be too far for them to come for just 1-2 shows. Ohh, I totally thought it was THIS Sunday, that would have ruled. Keep me posted please!
