I feel like you guys are holding Metallica to a different standard to everybody else. Like Metallica are your retarded son and he's gotten dressed all by himself and you're really proud of him while your other son has just finished his masters degree

I mean it's nerdy but is it really any worse than naming your band after Lord of the Rings? Gorgoroth, Burzum, Isengard...

So are marduk really nazis or what I was so convinced that they weren't but after sifting through their more recent lyrics I'm not sure anymore

It's not explicit enough for me to be sure. The lyrics on Panzer Divison Marduk seemed to really focus on the violence of the battlefield, while the lyrics on Frontschwein seem to really go through and glorify the nazi generals one by one. The Blond Beast is about the architect of the holocaust. In Afrika they talk about the "88's" firing, which I know was a weapon, but still. Maybe it's just that they've adopted more of the nazi terminology for things so it sounds more tasteless than it used to.

I once saw a little grindcore band play, I think it might have been Ebolie but it was at least ten years ago so my memory is hazy. A drunk guy up at the stage kept screaming "take it off" all through the set. The guitarist had a prosthetic leg, but this drunk guy was the only guy close enough to notice. After a sustained period of heckling, the vocalist got the guitarist to sit down and pop off his leg, ran over to the bar, and got them to fill it with beer. Then he made the drunk guy skull beer out of the guitarist's prosthetic leg while the drummer and the bass player played that jingle they play at baseball games on the organ that starts slow but gets faster until it climaxes with "DANANA NA NA NAAAA!"

Kind of a vague request, but I'm looking for more stuff like A Blaze in the Northern Sky. Specifically, I like how restrained it sounds, and how soulful the riffs are. For the most part it's not super fast and the riffs are pretty basic. I grew up on tech-death and stuff but I seem to be regressing backwards so that now I only like stuff that's simple and produced like poo poo

joylessdivision posted:That sounds oddly appropriate. They were excellent, but it depends what you like about Arcturus I guess. Mostly stuff from La Masquerade, Sideshow Symphonies and Arcturian with a couple of tracks off Aspera Hiems Symfonia. It's really good to hear the La Masquerade stuff with a fuller live sound because that album's not produced too well and if anything it sounds even more chaotic. Supported by Blood Incantation who I've just decided are excellent. edit: It was a really nice show actually and you could tell that it was kind of therapeutic to them. Last time they came to my city was ten years ago, my city was the last show on their tour and they literally announced their breakup the next day. In 2007 he opened by saying "this is the last show of Arcturus" and last night he opened with "this will not be the last show of Arcturus." 02-6611-0142-1 fucked around with this message at 00:38 on Sep 18, 2017 |

Which metal band has songs that sound the most like corporate buzz-phrases? Wormed? I feel like there's gotta be a tech-death band out there somewhere where the song titles all sounds completely interchangable with corporate email
