I thought he was pretty interesting all around. Only thing I thought he was loony about was Mars but otherwise poo poo at least made sense. Then again, I'm open to ideas and don't subscribe to any of them.

I love these episodes mostly because I guess I want to believe the crazy alternate history stuff (I don't). The only part where he lost me was when he claimed that BBC had produced a character assassination of him. The persecution thing always makes me instantly not believe them.

Sounded way too defensive and shady to be honest.

After listening to that podcast, I immediately found and watched the 2000 BBC Horizon "Atlantis Reborn" episode. Graham was slightly less cooky 10 years ago, but more arrogant and combative about his theories back then. I think BBC Horizon did a pretty good job of shutting him down without being too about it.

The prerecorded fleshlight promos with Redban really creeped me out. But I guess that says something to Joe's credit that his don't?

And for more Redban complaining, the little eye roll he does and face he makes whenever someone corrects him or disagrees with him is infuriating. Then the next two minutes of the show revolve around him getting defensive and repeating the same thing over and over and ignoring anything anyone else says. There's no way this is just a character he plays up for the show.

Do the different Deathsquad podcasts ("What's Good", etc.) have different intent / cover different ground, or is it just different people? I understood what Skeptic Tank was, but don't know if I could listen to the others until I understand what I'm getting into. Also, any word on Ari Shaffir's timing to start up his spinoff Skeptic Tank podcast? Oh hey, I see Skeptic Tank is already up and going. The first Neil Brennan show is probably the best insight into the mind of Dave Chappelle I've heard yet. The show occasionally manages to be good in spite of itself.

What's Good is a pretty good podcast to get into if you are really into hip hop. I'm going to say a good 50+ percent of it is talk about old school rap/hip hop. Also Freddy Lockheart is pretty funny, and does amazing impressions. I'd say that generally all of the Deathsquad podcast are fairly different as different comics are running it and do their own thing with it. Guests can overlap though, however when it's a good one (like Justin Martindale) it's always funny to me. I also really like Your Mom's House, as it's always wholesome talk about poop and dental updates. It's still pretty different from the Naught Show, which usually has porn stars or other skeevy guests as features. Also my favourite video: what Ari Shaffir really saw during his salvia trip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwTzNV_iDRg

I just read on the joerogan.net forum that Redban makes more than $80k a year (according to one of the videos he made a few years back).

Advice posted:I wonder how much his living expenses are. I remember a recent podcast in which he said Joe paid for all their meals and he felt bad ordering things he would never order if he were paying. But 80k is more than enough to eat comfortably for most people. I think Joe was talking about travel expenses and going out in general in that exchange.

The first time I listened to this podcast Redban said something stupid and Joe basically told him "shut up you are being stupid". I felt bad for the guy because I thought he was a standup just getting started and he was just trying to add something. Now that I'm a seasoned listener I really wanna punch that fucker in the face.

My favorite part of that clip is how Joe is explaining the song very literally, even though the song itself is very literal.

are there podcasts where a guest gets in a real argument with redban or tells him how stupid he's being in detail? From the ~50 I've listened to I can't remember anything like that really happening (besides the joe/redban awkward incident), but I feel like with all the types of people he brings on there would be someone that absolutely cannot stand Redban

I think I'm just repeating what's generally in this thread, but yes, I mostly listen to Rogan because 1. his standup, which he hones more than this show, is hilarious, and 2. I still remember loving him, and punk music in general, even during my secretly-listening-to-Sleater-Kinney youth. Yes, he's a meathead, and if he said half the poo poo he says on the show when he was sober and on TV, he could very well lose a significant portion of his non-meathead fanbase...but I have to say, amid all the weirdness, he's a real LGBT ally. Like, holy hell, if anyone is going to change how the average dude sees queer folk, it's Joe Rogan. When Joe Rogan says there is no reason to see a man as less of a man because he fucks other men (and that we gay/bi girls are allowed to, you know, exist and that we do exist and that's cool and not just because it's hot), some homophobic meatheads might just learn something. That counts for something in my book, but being a loon is really actually grating me for the first time. Conspiracy/uber-libertarian bullshit is the quickest way for me to just lose tons of respect in someone. I'm so confused by skeptics and libertarians overlapping more and more lately--anyone else notice that? Liberal humanists are dwindling among self-proclaimed skeptics. I wish James Randi or Neil DeGrasse Tyson or Ursula K. Le Guin (because she's awesome, not because she's overtly skeptical) did a podcast.
