Thinking about utilizing drop boxes on my new run for crafting supplies. Anyone know which drop box is closest to one of each crafting station? Goodsprings ain't bad, but the campfires are a ways down the hill

Logan's loophole is great. The perks after 30 aren't even that great, buffout + booze can turn any character into a melee character, steady is like having every VATS accuracy perk at once, medx is a free pass to get the light armor perks, the list goes on. If you wanna try to get all skills to 100 you can always change perks at the autodoc later

The standard "story good, environment bad" opinion about Honest Hearts is always strange to me, I liked walking around Zion a lot but Joshua and Daniel are both vaguely interesting characters buried under a bunch of racist paternalist tripe about missionaries handwringing over whether to save or corrupt the souls of these naive, wide-eyed noble savages who definitely aren't actually Native Americans, they just happened to adopt all the markers of the Indian in the racist American imaginary because they've """""regressed"""" to a """"less civilized"""" form of society. It's just the same old good-Indian bad-Indian poo poo that's been rehashed a million times, stuck into the classic videogame "but what if maybe genocide is justified sometimes though?????" framework. Both the Sorrows and the White Legs are completely devoid of agency, positioned as children with a series of fathers from more "advanced" societies directing all their decisions beyond simple survival. The White Legs are simply too "primitive" to figure out how to hold all the territory they've taken for themselves until Ulysses shows up, and the Sorrows are a bunch of literal children saved by the Survivalist (who then of course he becomes their god just to make sure they don't miss a trope here), then saved again by the Courier and Joshua or Daniel because they're just too simple and innocent to deal with those drat crazy cannibals who keep murdering them.

this is the standard opinion though

Is it? The vast majority of the times I see HH discussed it's just in terms of which white savior is the better one and how boring people did or didn't find the map. Maybe I'm just not picking up on the unspoken agreement that when people say it has a good story they mean aside from all the racism baked into the whole conceit and execution but it doesn't really seem that way

it's common enough to be in the fallout wiki and Sawyer has personally addressed it

Something about my mod setup and Dead Money did not agree at all despite being incredibly stable in the dozens of hours I played leading up to that point. A lot of crashes, once I triggered the gala I suddenly was falling through the floor in the town area constantly which thankfully stopped inside the casino but the crashes didn't. I decided to let go by turning on god mode and no clip and speed running to the end. Sad that it ended that way since it's my favorite DLC (for any game not just FNV).

yeah I had a crash that would happen every time I tried to go through one of the doors leaving the fountain area. I had to teleport myself through using the console to continue

Consistently in that one area sounds like a conflicting mod. If you open up xEdit and filter for conflicts you can hunt it down pretty easily, you'd only have to select deadmoney.esm and look at which of your mods are changing the same records. Dragging and dropping from there is the easiest way to resolve the conflict, just make sure which ever mod you want the "winning" changes from is in the top of the list. Don't put up with having to debug yourself through the game!

If you crank your charisma way up and use Arcade as a companion with a decent weapon he fucks stuff up pretty good. Any mod that lets you have multiple companions would break the game with 10 charisma.

Is there ever an in-game explanation of how mini-nukes work? It's such a ludicrous concept that you're just expected to accept as a player. I've only played Fallout 3, NV and 4, but I don't remember either of them mentioning mini-nukes even as an aside. They're just a thing that exists.

I'm about to be wrapping up Lonesome Road and the whole concept of detonating (pre-war, undetonated) warheads to clear up debris is even more weird. These warheads are big as a house, and supposedly came out of ICBM, yet somehow when I blow one up from 60 yards away I take no damage, and neither do the Marked Men standing next to it.
