Hell, you'd potentially need to prove that it's actually him - seems like it'd be easy enough to say that the guy on the tapes is one of her friends and that she's orchestrated the whole thing as a stitch-up, particularly as she's released it publicly rather than going to the police. I'm not saying that's what happened, but if I was his lawyer I'd be leaning pretty heavily on it. Not sure what the club does if there's ultimately no criminal case - precedent seems to suggest that you just go with "innocent until proven otherwise" and leave it at that, but I'm not sure the fans would let that go.

given the context of several recent events, I shouldn't laugh at coaches openly stating as fact that "bowling and a kebab was fun, but what if we all went dogging and got sloppy rimjobs instead this year" is the pinnacle of all team bonding exercises in the mind of footballers but I am and I will

that Raith Rovers press release has some impressive Dave Whelan energy tbh they could absolutely have turned around and said that he's never been convicted of a criminal offense, and so therefore they consider it right and proper that he should be able to make a living as long as he upholds the high professional standards of raith fuckin rovers yadda yadda what they actually said was "uhhh, we hired him because he's good at football not because he's a rapist, I don't even know what yous are all mad about" and then something about gay snakes

from what I've seen from some shortbready sources, they've given him a contract of £1,150/wk until 2024, and they're not going to be able to pay that as a lump sum so he's going to end up getting paid to not play football for two-and-a-half years it's also suggested that this is silly money for the Scottish Championship, in which case jesus christ - I've worked with teams in the Conference North (sixth tier) who pay their top players double that. I knew that Scottish football was Some Fail, but I didn't think that second-tier sides could easily get outbid by teams who've never played in the EFL

I kind of assumed from the description of him "kicking and hitting" the cat that the cat was being a prick and he responded by throwing a foot at it to make it gently caress off, in a way that still isn't particularly ok but wouldn't actually injure the cat. Nope - he picks the cat up from another room, drops it from waist height and then volleys it across the floor. All while having a top giggle. Absolute weirdo. I don't think Antonio is wrong at all to point out that there are plenty of people who didn't get sacked or lose any major playing time for drunk driving. domestic abuse, being arrested for rape, DJ punching, putting out a cigar in your teammate's eye, or calling an opposition player a "black oval office"; so the people who want him banned from football for life need to sit down for a bit, but if I was West Ham I'd definitely be looking to get rid come the summer.

It's not whataboutism to point out a specific double-standard being applied to something (unless we're posting in the politics forum and your candidate has been caught doing the bad thing the other candidate just did, in which case it's the exact definition) it would only really apply if we say that the cat-booting is objectively worse than all of those other things and therefore deserves a harsher punishment big "I can excuse racism, but I draw the line at animal cruelty" Britta energy

# ¿ Feb 12, 2022 19:33 |

Not entirely sure where you're going with this - yes: rape, drunk driving, blackmail and various other things are all worse than animal cruelty, if we're judging being a shitcunt on a sliding scale. It doesn't make any of those things justifiable or excuse people's behaviour, but you can't just bring back crucifixion because a lady put the cat in the bin and Piers Morgan is very upset about it. Punishments still have to reflect actual crimes and not levels of weird social media demand for bloodletting. I'd agree that perhaps saying racist things to someone on a football pitch would come in lower, but on no account should that stop the West Ham players from forming a circle and chanting that Zouma is a friend to all species.

The term "working class" is essentially meaningless at this point, for exactly this reason. It's either used by high-earning people who are nominally blue collar as a way to say that they deserve tax breaks on their company van (which is actually a Ford Ranger that carries a toolbox once a month) while binmen and people who work in shops are human detritus, or it's used as a dogwhistle for "pig ignorant and proud of the fact" in order to push right-wing agendas. But Ninpo's point is valid - footballers generally come from poor backgrounds and so the narrative in the media, 100%, is that they don't deserve their wages and that they should give them up to pay for nurses. Of course, you could just tax the people who own these media outlets, who earn hundreds of times what even Martin Braithwaite does, but you see they deserve that money more than nurses do. It's really obvious once you start to look for it. this has been your neville southall song of the week
