Q_res posted:Wow, lots of hard choices to make. And the level 6 rewards kinda piss me off, the Mustang is the only one of those cars to never see a Trans-Am track. Where's my '69 Boss 302 Turn 10? The Cougar is the wrong one as well; it was the '67s and '68s that nearly beat the Mustang, not the fatter '70. Still, I'll be agonizing over that choice at level 30.

Q_res posted:Yeah, but the Eliminator could be had with the Boss 302 engine on the street, and at least it actually set foot on a Trans Am track. Even if it was less successful than the earlier Cougars. I'm pretty sure the Boss 429 never raced on a track that deviated from straight. Point taken. Putting the 429 in the Trans-Am choice doesn't make much sense, but neither does having the 1970 model instead of the 1969 model. The 429 is probably going to be a lot more popular in drag racing this game.

I hate you all right now. I should get my regular copy this week but two things keep me from playing it: a lack of a functional Xbox and the fact that I ship out to basic training next week. I won't get to play until mid- to late-December at the earliest

Hahaha I just got an email for the Alfa from Gamestop and the 1M from Best Buy, and I'm not sure if either of them actually shipped the game to me.

Q_res posted:Just bitter about how much the King Cobra sucks. You have no power, why the gently caress won't you hook up? I don't see a problem with this. Seriously the King Cobra is so much goddamned fun it should be illegal. Doing the Fujimi Downhill Chase against the Sprinter Trueno coupe (D Class I think) was hilarious, and the same downhills in C Class against the Celica GT-4 made me feel like a loving driving master. I got some play time in at a farewell party my nerd friends threw for me; there was a moment in the C Class downhill that I apparently yelled "I am a driving god!" before slamming into one of the traffic cars. tl;dr: if you drive the King Cobra and don't shove the AI out of the way while doing a Hulk Hogan impersonation ("Yeah, brother, taste some AMERICAN MUSCLE") then you are playing this game wrong.

Pudgygiant posted:If there is a community dlc pack again, who wants to start a campaign for the ford lightning, 1151 hmmwv (milspec with roughly a billion ft-lbs that tops out at 75), the unimog, mrap, or that crowdsourced off roader that I can't remember the name of? Jalopnik seems to be working on another community pack for this game; I'm hoping for more mid- to late-'70s "performance" cars like the Chevy Monza (Google Dekon Monza if you're unfamiliar) and the AMC Spirit AMX. Some Can-Am prototypes would be awesome as well.

VikingSkull posted:Ok, we have a Pinto, now where's the Vega and Gremlin? This, in all seriousness. We seem to be getting every sporty subcompact that was on sale in the USA during the 1970s, one lovely car at a time (plus, you know, the Pinto and Gremlin were hugely popular in SCCA and other club races back then). Throw a Monza, Capri, and Manta on that list and we're perfect.

Sad I only had time for two races with AUGR tonight; the c-class race at Suzuka was fun and Road America was great even though I ended up hotlapping by myself with a poo poo-rear end tune. Had a perfect drift, though, for the first time in game. poo poo was fun.
