the HKS evo is a (maybe transfer) unicorn. The secret transfer car is the DMC delorean.

From BADNED's list on Forza Central (most accurate):

"2006 HKS Time Attack Evolution CT230R [Unicorn / Buy in Auction House]"

People with an early copy said the secret is the DeLorean on neogaf.

Yes.

There's Manufacturer Affinity and Driver Level.

DL 1-150
MA 1-50.

Once you get to MA level 5 car upgrades are free except swaps and wheels.

Driver Level 1-50 you get the choice of your level upgrade gift car. levels 51+ you get credit bonus.

From what I've been able to read it looks like you get bonuses for pretty much everything. Doing career races, sometimes they'll give you Affinity Bonus or Credit bonuses. I'm not sure what else you'll get level 5+ but I'm sure there's something.

It's the STI Sedan. The one already in the game is the hatchback.

This is one for someone who has the game, but you dont always start at the back of the grid do you? I dont mind fighting my way to the front but sometimes its a pain when you only have 2 laps or so.

If it's like the previous games you'll move to the front of the grid as you progress, or as you mod your cars. In career the highest PI car is at the start.

Also, I think just like in Forza 3 install disk two from the menu of disk one. I believe last time it would cause errors if installed from the dashboard, might happen again.

Only at first. With practice you can learn exactly how much to brake and you'll find the sweet spot where you can brake hard (and late) and not lock them up. Or the point where a quick jab is all you need. Or when you just have to let off the throttle a oval office hair. etc. etc. Just takes practice to where you can get to the direct point of just before you lock 'em up.

Residency Evil posted:

So I'm trying to begin playing without ABS on the controller. What's the right way to brake? Pulse rapidly? This isn't easy :(.

Squeeze gently at first, until you know the corner/car/cars' brakes and can apply just the right amount for the situation. No 'slamming' of the brakes. Squeeze until you can feel the tires start to lock-up.

FM3's Positano full is not in the game. Only the short version (FM3 "Almafli") is in, which is now just called "Positano" in FM4. The full version has been cut, along with New York, the Bugatti Circuit and all of the Sidewinders.

Yeah, pretty much just a kudos. I believe there's achievements for getting max of each one and there might be some in-game 'badges' for getting X amount or some poo poo like that probably.

Pretty sure it's just a code you enter that enables/downloads the VIP stuff. You don't need a specific LCE game/disk for it to work, just the code itself.

There's standard leaderboards (class based), where I believe you'll be able to a rival and challenge them there. Then there's specific rival challenges setup by Turn10 for specific tracks/cars/goals/etc. that will change once a month or so.

You can still get the unicorn cars (17 of them) in FM4 through the auction house and sponsored events. The VIP cars will become available to everybody in the future, eventually. The cars that 'import' are all in FM4 and you can get them, you're just not gifted them to start with 16 cars when you start the game.

With the standard addition you'll miss out on the 5 VIP/LCE and BMW Art car pack.

You can still purchase the Muscle Car Pack - or the Season Pass (which gives you the muscle car pack). You'll get 5 Day one cars cars, bmw m5, benchmark tracks, top gear soccer field.

LCE Only:
VIP cars:
2011 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, 2011 Ferrari 458 Challenge, 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, 2010 Noble M600, 2011 RUF Rt 12 R

Art Cars:

(art cars are just painted versions, standard cars still in game)

loving 'eh Best Buy!

Went down to get my LCE. Stood in the pre-order line gave the dude my receipt, he looks around "oh, they didn't bring them up here. Just grab one from the shelf in the game section."

Grab one from the shelf!

I walk my rear end over there and they have 3 LCEs on the shelf. Bring it back over and he rings me up blah blah. "Pre-order code is on the receipt, right?" "Yeah." he says. Walking out the store half-way to my car looking at the receipt and I don't see a code. Stand back in line and the other person there tells me "to go to the game section." So I go to the game section, stand around for a few minutes while neckbeards do neckbeardy things in the game section until the guy that confirmed that my pre-order was there and they had "just enough" to fulfill pre-orders on the weekend came over and got me setup after a few minutes of dicking around on his computer.

The whole thing was just lame as poo poo and took up way too much of my lunch break. Started the xbox live update while I ate a quick lunch then ran out of the house and I'm back at work now. 3-1/2 more hours.

Anyway. I'm done being overly emo and spergy over a video game... For now.

I went back in because it wasn't on my receipt and they did some mojo on the computer and got me my code on the receipt.

The driver level 3 reward prize choice was the hardest choice I've ever made in my life.

Is that the one with all those red roadster type cars? If so, I picked the two tone 89 toyota. Why have one color when you can have TWO? I love this drat game.

It's the 70s RWD cars. bmw 2002, alfa, little nissan thing. i went with the bimmer to get a head start on my affinity. not like it really matters.

Hey, maybe this is a really dumb question, but is there any way to view a replay of a race/lap?

After a race there's a "save replay" or "watch replay" option. Along with leaderboards, restart, etc.

Go, lil' purple dude, go!

The only car I've spent money on (to buy) e28 M5

Forgot to upload the other pictures where you can actually see the car. I'm too tired to do it now.

Havin' a blast with the game though I need to figure out my router and getting rid of that strict NAT. I've tried port forwarding and all kinds of poo poo and it never works right. Might just buy a new one...

That's so bullshit that those BBS wheels are in the game on that car but they're not an option as a wheel to put on other cars!

Those are the stock wheels.

I swear I had Forza ADD last night and couldn't figure out what to do. Now that the initial rush and excitement has subsided (a bit) I can settle into the game more. I was trying to do a little bit of everything last night.

I did some autocrossing, did some rivals as well. The Lancia Track Day on Almalfi was awesome. I've been trying to stick to the lower class cars and will slowly upgrade as I progress.

My reasonably priced car lap, gotten it down to 1:47.460. I will never catch Minimaul or Wanderer though.

Lost lots of time in the last corner(s). You can make up quite a bit there with some later breaking. With the slower cars, keep your momentum up at all cost. Use the whole width of the track going into and coming out of corners. Think of it this way; coming out of a corner the more straight you are, the less you're still turning or hugging the inside, and the more the front wheels are straight the more power and speed you can get/carry. So use the whole width of the track. You don't want to go out of your way to use the whole width of the track, but don't keep turning if you don't have too when exiting a corner. If you can watch a ghost of some other replays do that for some of the super fast times to get an idea and see how people do it. Racing a ghost is one thing, but watching their ghost from your own driving perspective will really open your eyes. I take people for rides all the time when I autocross (sometimes even drive their cars) and the first thing they say is "holy poo poo you can do that?" Just seeing first hand what can be done is a huge eye opener for a lot of people. Might be worth a shot...

So if I am on a rather long straight in 4th gear and taking a long time to hit that red line but acceleration has slowed, I should continue waiting for it to hit red and shouldn't shift up when I am ~75% to the red line?

Thanks for answering my dumb questions.

If you're still in the power range, yes. It's all about being in the 'powerband'. Each car has a different power range through the RPM. Some have more power at lower ends and tapers off at close to redline, some have power all the way to redline. For somebody just beginning, take that fucker up to redline until you get a better understanding and feel for the cars/shifting.

Do some tests on straight tracks or oval tracks without any cars.

Go 40 mph. put the car into 5th or 6th. (so it's super low RPM, like 2k rpm) Floor it. Feel the car lag? Feel/see/hear how it's struggling to go, how it's like it's in molasses? That's because you're in the wrong gear.

Go 40mph, and use whichever gear is at the mid-range RPM, 4k-5k RPM. Probably 2nd or 3rd, depending on the car. Floor it. Notice how there's actually power now? That's cause you're in the right gear. Then you shift, and the process repeats.

When your RPMs get low again and you lose that 'power', downshift so that you're back where you need to be (corners).

It's like that for every gear, every corner, braking, turn, everything. You want to be in the sweet spot as much as possible. It'll take time to learn, but once you feel that slow, lurching no power 'why isn't my car hauling rear end' feeling then you'll know when you're in the wrong gear.

Hope that gives a basic idea. Just keep practicing and listening and feeling.
