If anyone is getting extra Hunahpu's they'd be willing to trade, I'd be interested. I've got easy access to Chicago stuff, less easy access to Wisconsin stuff, and a small number of things in my cellar I'd be willing to offer up.

I'd be a little patient before you resort to needing a trade, particularly given Chicago and Illinois is in FW's distribution zone. Only the Chicago area gets FW, or at least the reserve stuff. It sounds like this person is outside that region.

Me in Reverse posted:Weird post incoming: I am a newbie. Would anyone be willing to send me a 'starter kit' of fun/interesting stuff for either cash or anything I can obtain in the Philly area? I'm still trying to make heads or tails out of all of this stuff. Sorry/thanks. As Swickles (good trader!) points out, you live in a really good beer city. It would be cheaper and probably more helpful in the long run if you focused locally. Especially in a city ripe with choices it's intimidating so the best advice I can give is to find a place that has a lot on tap and have a few. Take notes. Untappd is a good app for it. Note styles and breweries that you like. Fact: you can't learn without drinking. Another thing against you is your state's hosed up liquor laws. If you can get to NJ or something, find a shop that will sell single bottles. It ends up pricier, but variety = more data points.

swickles posted:... they said some kind of Hunahpu, but I doubt even they know what it is since it will be a year til that even comes out. That depends on what Huna batch it is, how long they are going to age it, etc. For all we know, they could have barreled some 2012 a year and a half ago for this. Even the 2013 at this point would be in barrels for almost 6 months. CCB has been pretty vague about schedule, only saying that a membership essentially ends 30 days after the last beer is released. I'm hoping it drags out a little to see if members get any Hunahpu's Day benefits. That might be a good excuse for a FL weekend next winter...

I'd be willing to take a bottle or two of Vera Mae off you, or an Allagash coolship, if they have any. Please put me at your lowest priority, though.

Very much a long shot but maybe a MI or IN goon might be able/willing to do it: I'm looking for a bottle of Upland Sour Reserve Batch 2 because the taste I had this weekend made me very, very happy. PM if you have one you'd be willing to part with. I know this won't come cheap but I have a small cellar with BCBS variants, FW stuff, other various things. I'm also a CCB El Catador member with possible bottles from that available.

Cbear posted:Didn't get many bites on my locals for locals thing. Should I just try to trade on BA? Just trying to start trading or getting some hard to find beers in MD. You can try BA but the response is going to be similar. You really should have something in mind that you're looking for; it's just easier for people to say "I can get that, what can you send in exchange?" Keeping it too open ended isn't going to draw any interest. My advice would be to do a little research on what's interesting to you that you can't get. If you like what people on BA or Ratebeer or Untappd are saying about Beer XXX from Wyoming, then drop a line saying "Looking for Beer XXX. Have all MD locals available." Or better yet, "Looking for Beer XXX, have Beer YYY. Willing to expand for more locals."

Cervixalot posted:Is it worth trying to trade for a BCBS Rare at this point? I think I could probably snag one for the combo of my Proprietor's + Cthulhu, but I think I recall hearing that Rare is past its prime at this point, and with a new batch coming in 2015, I may just be better waiting it out. Thoughts? I had Rare a year ago and it's still probably the best variant. Though YMMV, especially giving up those two for one. Also "new batch" should definitely be in quotes; They aren't using Pappy barrels so what's aging right now is really something different. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't going to be another Proprietor's (since they're doing an annual release of that with a different recipe each year).
