I have two questions: how common is it for subtitle groups who are working on the same show to talk it out and make sure they aren't covering the same material? Also, is there any etiquette in the fan-sub community about respecting another group's turf, or is it "Hey, we want to do our translations our way, so you guys be damned?" This isn't meant as an attack on TV Nihon, but rather, more just a general query.

I don't think they understand that just dumping a large string of nonsense* into the subtitles actually makes it harder for someone to read and understand. That, or they are more concerned about the one nerd who would say "Oh my god, you guys weren't accurate. You should stick to the original Nihongo name, please!" *To be ironic, I'll make a quick note. I'm aware that it isn't actually nonsense, but to someone who doesn't speak Japanese, seeing a long string of words that I don't understand in an English translation needlessly is nonsense.

I don't know if I want to dedicate 40+ hours to a game when I find myself with less and less time to just sit and play videogames. Unless it's the new Mass Effect. gently caress my job. Work will have to work around that for me.

Videogames were expensive back then, and it wasn't weird to have a very small selection of games.

For the earlier seasons, enough of the show has been translated where it would be feasible to do one torrent for two seasons. As you get to the later seasons, there's a lot of leverage, but I'd guess I'd just keep the convention just to keep people sane. That way people can split up the torrent. And maybe we should have a "Best of Arino" Torrent. You know, a torrent just for the episodes that we think someone getting into should watch.

Can we all agree that Inoko Max and Nakayama are tied for the top slot. I mean, Nakayama is so awesome, he just tries so hard, but it is clear that he isn't good on camera, which is what makes him great. Here's a quick question: What did Inouye (Inoko Max) do during the Takeshi's Challenge Live Challenge that got such a negative reaction?

It's sort of endearing that he wasn't even aware that he was supposed to be on script, and just answered that question honestly. But Inoko Max is my favorite, since he reminds me a lot of myself. He tries so hard to please, and yet just can't seem to get it right, but that's why we love him. His appearance in Bonanza Brothers is awesome. Arino really didn't want him to play the game at all.

Honestly, I can't think of anyone who wouldn't download the series because they had to click on multiple links, but I can think of a lot of people who would say "Wow... that's an 80 gig file!"

Holy poo poo! I just realized who Beat Takeshi is! He's the guy from Sontatine - aka, the only reason you would have to buy the Zatoichi movie on DVD. It was a bonus disc, and it was a really good but really stark and dark movie. He plays a troubled mob boss. Pretty much, he was a comedian who turned into a serious film maker, and if you can find Sonatine, watch it.

Frankly, I'm just curious - for the episodes you've already done, are you going to retranslate them from scratch, or are you just going to improve what is already completed? Oh man, I just got that game too. Why does Kid Arino ask me if I'm single? Also, I love that Haggleman comes out one day before I was born. In fact, I just learned that Takashi's Challenge came out on the day before I was born. It makes me warm inside to know that right as I entered this world, a bunch of Japanese children were probably thinking "what the gently caress is this game?"

It's obviously a joke. First off, there's nothing online about this group at all. I just spent a few minutes doing a Google search, and this is the only thing this group has done. Secondly, the errors that they made seem like a parody of bad errors. For instance, there's one point where there's a line of dialog that's too long to appear in one subtitle, so the conclusion appears above the original subtitle. Then there's an incredibly long translator note during Abe's cooking segment. And then translating the song lyrics while getting all the rest wrong? Bravo good people. Bravo.

It's funny: the Mystery of Atlantis will be translated by all 3 major groups: Kotaku, TV Nihon, and now someone from the SA clique. When you have a free moment, I'd be really interested to hear how they all differ from each other and any insight you can give on the approach of each. Also, that episode was an amazing episode that highlighted everything that made the show great, especially the teamwork of Toujima and Arino.

I wonder if those blog posts are basically just Arino staying in that character of the hapless host of some low-rent television show that's just designed to torture him. Also, for extra insanity, click on the 415 link. It's nothing but Arino posting things that relate to 415, whether it's a shot of a computer clock taken at 4:15, or a road sign that says 415, or god knows what. It's kind of scary. I don't want to know what 415 means to Arino.

Guys, I just had the worst dream ever. Seinfeld was the new AD. He walked up to Arino and said "You can't start playing! You didn't blow! If you don't blow, you can't go!" Later on, Arino kept falling off platforms, and Seinfeld was going on about "slippage." The less said the better. I think this might be the end of the derailing. I think we need to rerail. Is it rude to end a derail without rerailing it yourself? Does mixing the derail with the rerail get us back on the rail, or does it just create a further derail.

If you watch the Cannes trip, they are showing footage from the original pilot for "Retro Game Master," which featured full production values, meaning they redid the overlays as well as dub the original soundtrack. And then Kotaku got it, and whoever did their translation decided not to redo all that stuff.

Here's my top 5: Tokimeki Memorial: Simply, this is one of the funniest episodes out there just because Arino becomes a complete psychopath throughout his playthrough, as he tries to balance multiple girls, has messed up reasons for everything he does, and just generally plays a cool casanova. Sonic the Hedgehog: A good starter episode since it is a game we are all familiar with, and it is incredibly funny too. Especially with the introduction of a new AD who's not quite ready for the camera, Arino is in top form. Castlevania 3: My favorite moments on the show are the moments when the team comes together and works hard at trying to beat a game. The show really does a great job of translating that joy over to the viewer, and seeing two friends go at it is always worthwhile. And of course, when the game is incredibly difficult and Inoko Max is involved, well, what more do you need? Umihara Kimwase: I like this episode a normal amount. Quiz! The Feudal Lord's Ambition: The quiz episodes are always a blast, but I like this one the best just because it shows us how much of a total pervert Arino can be. And also, more room for ABE!
