Really really good OP there, loaded with fun information. For someone like me who have watched all the episodes but still forget stuff about certain ADs, the OP post is quite handy!

That pink Arino was pretty nice so I redrew him and made it into a wallpaper! Well, several actually! I dunno, maybe he is a bit too big and maybe I should have worked more on making some good ones instead of a ton. Anyhoo! I'll give you the the logo and redrawn sprite so you can make your own if ya wants~!

EDIT: Fix'd it, let me know if um, the forum page looks broken for you guys because of the width of the images and I'll fix it as soon as I get up.

Oh man, pretty neat package! Finally got around to seeing Part 2 of the "Quest of Ki" episode. Great stuff! Have been kinda busy during the holidays... Busy.. Eating food.. Mostly.

Anyhoo, awesome to see the thread still thriving and lots of neat stuff happening in it. There are a few threads or sites even that I visit on a daily basis. This is one of them.
Also, can someone explain the concept of the GCCX magazine? Is it sorta like the Top Gear magazine? You have the personalities from the show doing reviews and other stuff. The GCCX magazine is sorta like that? Or something?

Oh, that's pretty awesome still. Times like these I wish I really knew japanese haha. Fan translations can only do so much, so much cool side material when it comes to stuff from Japan.

Ah, back from celebrating the holidays.. Man, I'm way behind on my GCCX schedule, still watching the Bonk episode! Appreciate all the translation efforts too.

And a new live show.. I doubt that is ever going to be translated so be sure to tell us other people about the highlights or if it was any good! As much as I love GCCX I am probably not going to sit and watch 24 hours of understanding just a tiny bit of what is going on, haha.

Haha, I hope that Arino is his usual "Well, this game is easy, we don't need to be here for 8 hours!". I love his positive outlook on things, then his optimism just gets smashed to bits! <3

I wouldn't mind seeing a 10 min compilation, translated or not, of the fun stuff from the live thingy. If it is any fun that is. The last live show looked okay but man, Quest of Ki, dying more than a hundred times for several hours.. I don't think I could watch that and say that it is good entertainment, haha. I would probably be just as defeated as Arino.

If they do it like Lemmings and Ki then there will be some kind of recap in the regular episodes.

Oh yeah, you are totally right haha. And I'm even watching the Bonk-episode now where they do just that.

Oh man, just watched the Bonk episode. What a neat episode. Loved the whole behind the scenes part and fun to see the challenge from another perspective, and man.. Intense moments! Feels good to finally be caught up with GCCX too.

Great work as always too!

Haha, man just started watching the Kato & Ken episode and I so remember playing it back in the day.. But I was so young that I remember that I felt so dirty while playing it because the other character was always peeing and pooping everywhere. It felt very weird I remember, like playing a crazy adult porno game, haha.

And then I also played gory games such as Moonstone but this game just felt so wrong to me, now I really wonder how I could be so prude, haha.

Oh man! Flashback! Awesome~! I was actually going to guess this would be the next episode when you guys teased it but I didn't want do be all like "Hey, hey heyheyhey, when are you guys gonna do Flashback?~" so I just kept it to myself. And then, bam! Flashback translated, awesome! Gonna watch this episode tonight, ouf, gotta go out and buy snacks for this!

Thanks a ton! Can never have too much Arino in my life :3:

All you guys wanting to see Battletoads because it is this essential american hard-to-beat NES game, the same feeling I as a european for Flashback and Another World, two games that I grew up with and played a ton that are sorta distinct and all european-like. I never had much exposure to Battletoads except I tried to play Battletoads vs Double Dragon in a mall once but I could never grasp the controls so for me, the Battletoads-series would remain a myster until later in life. I would love to see the episode but the excitement some of you guys have for the Battletoads episode, that's what I have for Another World and Flashback.

Battletoads is as essential nail-your-balls-to-the-wall-hard NES game even in Europe, especially considering its creator Rare Ltd. is based in UK. Not sure how widely sold it was but I never, ever found Battletoads when I tried to buy it or even rent it. Luckily I had the priviledge of friending a kid who owned the game and could play Battletoads loads. I never passed through that ice stage which I think I only ever reached once.

All things considered I have to say Flashback was probably my favorite childhood game. An adventure through multiple locales and even a barebones city hub with a working metro system was mindblowing for a console kid.

Oh drat, you are right! I knew Battletoads was a Rare game but I forgot that they were from the UK!
And yeah, Flashback's city hub blew my mind, I really felt like I could live there. Nowadays, the city isn't as impressive but being an action game and a platformer, the game sure has a lot of neat little features, details and such that really make it something more than a Prince of Persia clone or somesuch.

The Flashback episode was pretty good! Just watched it and I just wanted to chime in at how odd the game felt, mainly due to the fact that they cut out all the story segments, intro, the plot twist and everything. The game felt like it had no motivation at all, haha.

Crazy western games, I tell ya! It is kinda fun how japanese just seem to put "western games" ontop games that aren't made in Japan. How is the western game culture in Japan anyway? I guess it must be getting more popular with games like Assassins Creed and such getting quite noticed over there. The only thing I saw during Japan was when I was in uh, some shop in Akihabara and in front of me I saw a guy that was going to buy Dragon Age.. For the PC! Figured he must be some sort of western gamer fan, because I dunno. Western PC RPGs feels like a sorta otaku genre for a japanese gamer, sorta like crazy import shooters is seen over here, but I'm just guessing! Anyone have some cool stories or something on western games in Japan?

(Western) PC games in general aren't that hot in Japan. When I was in Japan, any given 'otaku' software store in Akihabara there would be a whole floor of porn games with a tiny shelf and a sale bin for Western games. There you could pick up Diablo 2 for 30 bucks, Total War collection for 110 bucks or even Mount & Blade for 60 bucks!

It's obvious from retail prices alone that PC games really don't have much value in there, be it due to uppity salespeople or just plain lack of demand.

You see the occasional Japanese Western game enthusiast on internet but that's a given, considering how many people there are in Japan. I think Xbox is healthy in Japan only due to pandering to the otaku culture with Idolmaster games and whatnot...

Western console games, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy a familiar spot on store shelves. Where in our stores we would have Madden, NHL, Modern Warfare next to a Atlus RPG, in Japan it would obviously be vice versa.
Interesting stuff! And I even think I saw M&B when I was in Japan.. I can't quite remember though~.

Hmm, I wonder what the most popular western games are in Japan, I bet it must be like.. Another World/Out of This World and Lode Runner. I know atleast two japanese game devs that have cited Another World/Out of This World as a source of inspiration. Hideo Kojima and... humm, someone else I can't remember haha, but I know it is atleast two anyhoo.

Well, they were rare before so if a single one got popular it was easily noticed and shut down, now you have small sites, uploaders on youtube, big sites and etc everywhere with GCCX content, it becomes much more time consuming, and harder, to find all these and shut them down, I think. That's my guess anyhow.

Or something along the lines of what Bocc Kob said.

Man, I get busy with school stuff, can't watch GCCX as often and then I check in this thread and drat, some really amazing things happened! The live show, Zari-gani hired as a translator! Dang! Congratulations on that and this thread just continues to become this sort of goody success story or something! :3: It burns with Arino's spirit. You gotta fight on, "because there is always an ending!"!

I think I just did the nerdiest thing. My credit card is sorta on its last legs. The protective plastic has fallen off completely and it is gonna fall apart any minute so I did what anyone would do. Order a new one.

With a new motif.

GCCX motif.

(A John Doe card with horrible JPG compression there but I used a super high res version of the pixel sprite so it should be okay when... if, it arrives. Also, you cant use copyrighted imagery for the card really but since GCCX seem to like its fans I doubt they would mind if I took this obscure pixel Arino I remade from a photo for my credit card~)

I can't really decide if I have done something awesome or something really terrible. Probably a mix of both.

(sorry for the totally rear end picture, the ipod camera is the only camera I have. :() It looks really great, turned out much better than I thought it would, pixel art is actually super crisp when you look at it.. I kinda feel like I should have pixeled the GCCX logo somewhere..

Anyhoo, since I started studying the GCCX episodes have just begun to pile up. I think I have like 7-8 episodes in my backlog.. I think I might be able to watch some episodes this weekend though. Also, those april fools jokes were pretty awesome, haha.

GCCX Movie? Daang! I'm at page 200 at the moment and man, seems like alot of things have happend in the GCCX world since then!

I have a question though, concerning some of the older episodes, alot of the old links to episodes like these:

Seem to be dead. Is there a new host somewhere for all these old episodes that I just haven't seen yet because I'm so many pages back?
