Been going on a TG kick lately in preparation of the new series. REALLY looking forward to the India special. I imagine they'll have nothing but lovely things to say about the cities.

What's everybody's favorite, non-special episode of TG? I forget the episode but I love the one where they try to find the best driving road.. in the world.

I love at the end how pissed off May is because his Aston Martin sucks so much to ride in.

Cheap British Leyland car challenge. The stuff they put those cars through was absolutely hilarious.

We are pretty backwards and easy to make fun of. :3:

I'm surprised there hasn't been an Aussie special. Bathurst and the Tassie Targa route could both make very awesome segments.

15? Jesus. I just started S3 on Netflix, since I've never watched more than YouTube clips. I'll eventually watch them all, but are there any recommendations on absolute must-see episodes?

Pick up a subscription to Netflix streaming only ($8/month) and watch all of them in chronological order. It marks off the ones you've already watched as well. :) However, if you're looking for any cars in specific:

I really didn't enjoy it.

The sound is insane. I live near a small track where the lower-level NASCAR series run (700-750HP) and it is insanely fun to watch and listen to.

Very impressed with Tonight's episode. LeBlanc's lap looked VERY smooth as well..pretty drat good driver.

There was an interview I read somewhere where Rutledge actually said that Tanner is their Stig. The Stig is barely worth mention on TGUS though, so it's not a big deal.

I'm quite sure Tanner is US Stig. US Stig tends to get cars sideways more than necessary on the track...very similar driving style to Tanner.

I know this isn't the Fifth Gear thread (I doubt one exists), but I wanted to point out that this season has been pretty solid. In this most recent one, Tiff races in a Lambo sponsored race against professional drivers, and does quite well. FG having a racing driver with a personality does give them some flexibility to do some things that TG can't. It's still a worse than either TGUK or TGUS, but I do think this season has been decent enough to watch.

Nice! Fifth Gear definitely has some good moments. Not quite as well-written as Top Gear, but you've really got to appreciate how animated Tiffany Dell is.

Bit too much schilling for Kia there. Referring to the car by brand name in every possible instance, even when it's the only car they've been talking about for the majority of the episode? The celebrity appearances further make me question the integrity of the show. I wonder what the story is.

Also funny how the Mastretta is basically the same formula as a Noble or many other home-grown British sports cars with similar defects, yet the best they can do is replace their incessant casual racism with insipid commentary and abbreviated condescension.

PS: motoring journalists, for gently caress's sake, when talking about cultures you don't understand, please stop trying to make cute analogies. You don't need to talk about tortillas when reviewing a Mexican car. You don't need to talk about sushi, sumo, geisha or giant robots when talking about a Japanese car. Stop.

Top Gear had integrity?

You can see the right wheel of the lost-wheel caravan wobble the entire run; it's clearly been loosened ahead of time.

For the caravan that tipped over, you can see smoke coming from the left wheel; they probably locked up its brakes ahead of time to make it unbalanced.
