Speaking of drumming I put on Twin Cinema the other day and Kurt Dahle is such a monster on that album. Stacked Crooked, Use It and The Bleeding Heart Show all make me pause to appreciate the drumming. Still my favourite New Pornographers album.

My main concern for Wet Leg is drat that has got to be a lot of pressure for a follow-up album that has that many great tunes on it.

My fav is “Ur Mum”

Blows my mind that both Broken Social Scene’s self titled and New Porno’s Twin Cinema came out in the same year (2005). Just a banger year for music with Sleater Kinney putting out The Woods, White Stripes with Get Behind Me Satan, Why? Elephant Eyelash etc etc.

One of my favourite years for music that just happens to correspond with one of the last years I was a teenager.

I’m old AF and that would be 1993 for me which was also an incredible year for music.

I've only started listening to pop and indie recently after picking up Magdalena Bay, Yeule, Carly Rae Jepsen's latest album, and boygenius and related acts like late last year so if anyone's got recommendations on where to explore in any of those directions that'd be dope. I like listening to entire albums but singles are alright too.

Remi Wolf’s “Juno” album has a lot of bangers on it and then get into her EPs which have some good stuff too.

Love Jessie Ware, although I did prefer her stuff a few albums back to her more disco-y stuff now but it's all good. Devotion and Tough Love are my favs.

Didn’t Slipknot have like 5 drummers? The clown guy basically just hit trash cans and buckets it seemed like

Joey Jordinson probably counts as like, 3 drummers just on his own

I'm not a slipknot fan or anything but that guy is incredible

Hell yeah I was listening to those Remi tracks earlier, I just really like her stuff overall.

I remember hearing “street that you live on” on cbc music radio station and was like who is THAT and just really liked pretty much everything she did.

Seeing the New Pornos in a smallish club in Vancouver from the mezzanine almost directly above the drum kit was an amazing concert that is burned into my mind. Kurt Dahle draining a pint of beer while keeping perfect time with the other hand and feet was impressive as hell.

Twin Cinema is a top 10 of all time album for me personally.

I am very happy that 20 years ago when picking usernames, I used the title of an album I still love.

My favourite New Pornos show was seeing them with Bejar, who would only come to the stage during his songs. He would leave immediately after. I seem to remember him coming up with a beer, which added to his chill persona, but maybe my mind is misrembering.

Oh he was at this particular show too and he did that beer in hand as well. Usually a bottle.

I’m disappointed that there aren’t more albums with Kurt Dahle drumming on because his drums on Twin Cinema are just so good. Bleeding Heart Show and Stacked Crooked especially.

Yeah the outro for stacked crooked, gawd I love it so much. Dude was in a lot of stuff in the late 90s/early 00s cancon (limblifter, age of electric) but TC is definitely his magnum opus.
