TheBigBudgetSequel posted:The Jaws one has lots to do with the film, just nothing to do with the shark. Jaws is as much about Amity Island as it is the Great White who terrorizes it. Sure but that doesn't capture the spirit of Amity at all. It's got some of the visuals, sure, but the umbrella tilted like that, the Great Gatsby-ish font, all the heads down, and that leg, it's coy and sort of jazz age-ish. It doesn't capture the era, the feel, or the emotional undercurrent of the town in the film. It's just loving fancy clipart. It's a better poster for the Redford Gatsby film than for Jaws.

Slate Action posted:If there was a Crystal Skull poster in that same style, it wouldn't make sense to repeat the theme of Indy being alone in the center, since much of the movie is more about 'The Jones Family' than just Indy by himself (continuing a trend started in Crusade with the introduction of his father?) None of them are about Indy in isolation. The whole premise of Raiders is Indy learning to accept and embrace how much he cares about Marion.

Jefferoo posted:The composition of this is mindblowing. The random streak on the left indicating motion, from the lazily hacked together Cage, including poorly photoshopped tie, making him look like he's from the 1800s at first glance, to the feet melting into the sand, back to what appears to be the plane still in motion grinding against the ground, to the generic city skyline in the background... it's an almost meta piece of commentary on the modern state of film posters. It is a terrible poster, but I think the plane is supposed to be in the act of crashing and the streak on the left is smoke from the engine.

Dick Trauma posted:I was in Hollywood this morning and noticed this poster. The movie is from 1933 so it's not surprising that Dr. Yen is played by a Dane named Nils Asther but I was surprised that Barbara Stanwyck is drawn in a see through gown and yes, you can see her nipples. The Bitter Tea of General Yen is great, don't knock it. And pre-code posters were ALL ABOUT see-through dresses.
