And if you decide to buy them digitally why not pick up Nonplayer #1 while you're at it?

Title:: Nonplayer
Publisher: Image
Brief description: In the near-ish future a girl with a dead end job who still lives with her mom gets drawn into a deep web of conspiracy concerning the online video game she spends all her free time playing
Why I like it: The art, mostly. I mean it's a good sci-fi story but you'll pick it up to look at the pictures. It got a thumbs up from Geoff Darrow, Frank Quitely, and Moebius which really does count for something if comic book art means anything to you.
Issue that is a good jumping on point: Issue #1 on comixology! That's also the only jump on point. And the only issue. That was published in April of last year. :sigh:

Haha whatever happened to this? The first issue was good!

Also, I second whoever mentioned on the first page including creative teams.

Title:: Queen & Country
Publisher: Oni Press
Creators: Written by Greg Rucka with a whole slew of artists (there's also a spin-off series, Queen & Country: Declassified written initially by Rucka, then handed off to Antony Johnston)
Brief description: Q&C is a spy thriller series set in Great Britain's SIS that's far more grounded than, say, James Bond. It centers primarily around Tara Chace, a Minder in Special Ops, who perform foreign work - making them the rough counterpart of the US's CIA. It delves into the politics of the operations performed, as well as the fallout. Things don't always go well, as can be expected.
Why I like it: The writing and art are both quite good. Tara's a strong character, as is typical of Rucka's female characters, and the stories are interesting.
Issue that is a good jumping on point: It's actually no longer being produced, however, the full series, plus the spin-off are in print via four Definitive Edition collections that are around $15 each on Amazon. Rucka has also written three novels in the series that are also available.

It doesn't really get talked about here much but I've really been digging the Valiant relaunch. I have almost no familiarity with the company from the 90s so I don't know if some of the stories are retreads or whatnot but they're all pretty interesting, and even ones that seemed very argh so extreme (like I thought Bloodshot would end up being) manage to do things that keep me engaged regardless.

Harbinger has probably been my favorite so far, but the hilariously left wing Archer & Armstrong is working its way to a close second. I particularly appreciated that one of the review quotes they put on the cover of the second issue was "Brain numbing propaganda." It's nice to seem that they're aware of what they're doing and have a sense of humor about it.

We have a thread for it!

Kirkman is pretty great when he's not phoning it in, but my god does he phone it in most of the time.
Honestly, I think he does his best work when he has an end in sight. Walking Dead and Invincible are both books he has no intention of ending as long as they continue to sell, so he's stuck treading water without the advantage of being able to get new creators to freshen things up like Marvel or DC would do.

It's not rare at all. It's probably just not purchased often so shops might not keep it in stock. The collections are all available on Amazon (your local shop should be able to order it for you, too, if you prefer that). I enjoy it and need to get the rest of it.

Not yet. Other than the main story, we get Dudley vs. Balrog, Guy vs. Ibuki, Dhalsim vs. Twelve (where Twelve transforms into various characters from SF1), Honda vs. Hakan and a Juri origin story. The Juri story does a really good job of explaining why she would be out to destroy Shadaloo while at the same time being a total scumbag villain.

Yeah, as stupid a decision as this is, it's really hard to make a claim that it's coming from homophobia, even though it can seem that way. As noted, the CEO is gay, the company donated to anti-Prop 8 groups, and have long extended benefits to the partners of gay employees.
