What the gently caress is wrong with you. Don't ever let injuries involving joints go untreated you -will- regret it later in life. Any type of lingering pain in my shoulders, knees, or back I immediately go to my orthopedist. 15 dollars to be told I strained something and given treatment is a lot better than 1500 dollars for a surgery later because I was an rear end in a top hat and ignored it.

I get that, but at least go through physical therapy and rehab it. Something. Lifting relatively heavy weight on a torn labrum is a recipe for disaster down the road.

If the Doctor and PT are telling you to carry on, then welp. But yeah, you may want to check your form if you're getting shoulder pain from a bench press. Also, stretching. Dear god stretching. I messed up my shoulder a couple years ago because I was slacking on my stretching, needed two months of PT to correct the pain.

Maybe look into beta alanine and arginine if you feel like getting fancy. This gets said every time the FDA bans one of the major substance found in pre-workout mixtures. It's never true these companies always find something new to kill ourselves with.

I had IT band issues in OCS but it never really stopped me from doing good on the APFT or the release runs. Going to the athletic trainers tomorrow but it's the same guy that checked me out in OCS and the IT band stretches over the past few weeks haven't really helped. I think what made my knees so painful today was spending all day driving back from leave on Sunday. My knees hurt so much right now that I feel like a god damned old man. Sounds like tendinitis/it band. You should probably try to see an orthopedist, a primary care doctor won't know poo poo beyond "yea you should see a specialist"

Seriously get to an orthopedist and get a real physical therapist. This is an overuse injury. Running more is going to exacerbate it greatly. Until then, ice and elevation fifteen on/fifteen off.

Dead Reckoning posted:I'd like to get a weight training set-up for my spare room, but I don't really have the space or cash for a full Olympic rack, so I'm leaning more towards a bench and some adjustable dumbbells. How quickly can I pick up something like that if I'm shopping used? Are the simple spin-lock dumbbells ok, or are the adjustable ones where it's at? Do you live near a university? Colleges will typically buy new weight lifting equipment every couple years and get rid of perfectly good stuff for pennies on the dollar. University of Maryland has an entire website dedicated just to selling their surplus stuff.

It's relatively new renovations so we'll see how long they last, I've been working on the gym manager to try and get a real deal platform and some 100lb plates but I'm one of maybe four people pulling over 400 and one of two over 500 so who knows how that'll go. Jesus christ, so it really is linoleum tile? I was hoping you were going to tell me it was just the lighting loving with me. Lifting on that would terrify me, especially in socks. There's no way you can get a firm foot placement on that.

A lot of gyms that cater to an older crowd (or non-weightlifting female crowd, if we're being honest) won't do real gym flooring or platforms because they think they're intimidating and it spooks people that aren't accustomed to a gym. They're also terrified it'll draw in gym rats and bros that will slam weights. When I was a manager at a small gym I had to beg and plead with the owner to get rubber flooring put down so we weren't constantly having flooring replaced and listening to loud rear end clanging.

I've been working on flexibility issues for a couple months now because originally I was having shoulder and neck pain. After a couple months with a PT it's gone away but now I spend about 15 minutes beforehand in the sauna and doing my stretches. I've definitely got the pelvic tilt though. I wore Vibrams for years. I only recently switched to using the Nike Free's for running and general fitness. I was starting to run into a lot of issues with plantar fasciitis.
