Dead Money is the best DLC of any kind in years and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise. Tight, smart, original, memorable stuff. As a whole, the NV DLC are also a great showcase for how best to exploit the rich diversity / wild all-over-the-place flailing tone of the Fallout universe. Four very different short stories, each with their own ideas and each bringing something unique to the game.

Conelrad's albums are pretty close to what you're looking for and they're all free. There's also the Existence 2.0 radio station from one of New Vegas' mods that's chock full of that sorta music.

Godspeed fans would also do well to check out A Silver Mt. Zion (first album especially, e: which starts out with an eerie pitch-shifted religious radio broadcast!). Lustmord and Tim Hecker are appropriately dark/Wastelandish as well, though not quite as cinematic/emotive/crescendo-rock as Godspeed and ASMZ. spider wisdom fucked around with this message at 22:31 on Sep 16, 2014 |

So my initial idea of having one picture of Strelok's goofy grin from Shadow of Chernobyl became a collection of 55 images. If you think you could use any of them, knock yourselves out. I've gathered the images from all over the web, and tried to find pictures of women that weren't complete wank-fuel.

Starter post is coming along nicely. I think it would be ready to go if not for the fact that I clearly need to do a better job selling it as it actually is going to exist rather than selling the glitz and glamour of promises as I once did (even if of course the promises mostly came true). I tried to skim at best when people were talking hardcore about the gameplay earlier this year; did anyone ever post like a succinct "this is what the game feels like to someone who has not played before" summary or even maybe a basic guide to HOW DO I ISOMETRIC CRPG? I mean, I can probably write one up easily enough, but I leave at like 5 A.M. Thursday for the release party and I do not envision myself having much time to perfect it tomorrow and I think I should definitely post it as soon as possible obviously.

Borrow Brother None's computer at the office and post with Brian Fargo looking over your shoulder, telling you how proud he is of you, son, and that he wishes you and he could be best friends forever and maybe you're free for lunch sometime next week, but either way give him a call so you guys can catch up on stuff from the past week. Let's go paintballing.

That and quick travel between explored maps with no enemies would be nice, like Fallout 2, when you landed on a city you could choose to warp to any point you had already been. The game really could have used some more UI designers that didn't seem to crawl out of the 80's - hope they keep working on more updates and patches and user feedback, the game is pretty amazing and rounding off any sharp corners would really go a long way to showing kickstarter projects are about the art and end product for customers.

I was just recently reminded that this game comes out for real in a couple of days, so I grabbed the early access version on Steam. How close to the final release version is this current one? Is it basically final minus a few minor touches and polish, or is there a decent amount of content missing that's being saved for the actual release? Should I make a test party for now just to learn the game and dick around, or can I start a "real" game and actually play the game as if it was final? And this probably gets asked a whole lot, but is there some beginner's guide of "Don't bother with this and this and make sure you do this" kind of stuff? Or is there no real point in looking that stuff up so close to the retail release?

Lots of good suggestions for post-apocalyptic music. I guess we all know about this stuff already, but I still love Mark Morgan's soundtracks for Fallout and Fallout 2. Sure, some of the tracks owe a lot to Aphex Twin, but it's still great post-apocalyptic ambient music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjy8XqJClTc Pogo Stick Eagle posted:God I can't wait for this.
