Have you ever gotten yelled at by a rude guy you were trying to hustle? Do people ever not let you hustle them, or try to get physical when you win the game?

Hey, I'm willing to consider any possibilities. If I see somebody take a pool stick out of a case and start screwing it together I have a deep seated desire to beat them unconscious with that pool stick of theirs.

Lol, it really isn't funny, but sort of is funny to me. Just reading this thread title causes me psychopathic hatred, but the OP has never wronged me in any way.

You are a fuckin weirdo but the general sentiment isnt too far off, most pool players/poker players/any type of gambling addict have huge egos and awful personalities and live to get under other people's skin (which the OP is at least self-aware enough to realize he does). After spending some time around a gambling addict with a few drinks in him it isn't unusual to want to beat the poo poo out him in my experience. If you want to murder people with a stick or whatever just for walking into the bar the wrong way you are probably an idiot though

You get it. Thank you. I knew that posting my question was going to offend the delicate sensibilities of countless whinny little bitches, but you completely understand what I am talking about. You are seem to be aware that you are broadcasting to everyone around you that you are looking for some form of competition.

This thread got me to thinking about unspoken queues. Unfortunately, there are pockets of areas all around the country where your body language also translates to: "I'm looking for a fight". I bet that a lot of your confrontations stem from that. I doubt they come over to you and start a fight right aware, but there has to be a lot of subconscious animosity going on which leader leads to altercations.

I wonder how much the hustling aspect plays into that. How many of you opponents lose their money trying to protect their ego only to lose their pride and their money and turn violent as a response?

Its not even a matter of "certain parts of the country", people everywhere in the entire world view an arrogant, trash-talking rear end in a top hat as an affront to their pride. Its absolutely the entire point of the hustle since it gets people to put their money up to save face. I liked that guys lovely pop-psychology analysis of how wanting to beat up someone acting like an rear end in a top hat is indicative of an abusive childhood and raised dopamine levels though hahahah

KelJU is a weirdo but I honestly dont understand why you retards are still debating that its not "normal" or common to want to beat someone up who is being an rear end in a top hat to you, when the OP has openly admitted that the entire point of his personality is to needle people and make them hate him, and that he hires a bodyguard to protect him during the frequent instances where people want to do violence on him for being a shithead

Except in his own words he said he has uncontrollable urges to beat people who he sees pick up a pool cue. I could be playing a casual game of pool and KelJu could come up and start beating on me for no reason. That's not normal, that's just loving weird.

I like how he also preemptively tried to prevent us from calling out his freakishness by calling us bitches and pussies as if that makes any sense whatsoever.

He was exaggerating and trying (and failing) to be funny, if he literally had an uncontrollable urge to beat up everyone who picked up a pool cue he would be in jail. His question was about the "aura" that pool hustlers give off, and how you can tell someone is a pool hustler just by the way they walk into a bar staring people down or being a confrontational rear end in a top hat which the OP confirmed is exactly his personality. If you want to read it again heres the OP's response:

quote:

I don't take this as an attack and I am sure they are a lot more people like this. It's more of the lifestyle thing then just pool players. When I was 24 I walked into every place like I owned it. I flashed money around, talked poo poo to people, needled people for no reason so I get the hatred. I don't do that know but I am still really cocky especially if someone is bragging about something I can't resist interjecting myself and making that person look like a fool or at least trying to. If I am with my girlfriend it's even worse or if that person is talking to women I have this urge to just shut him up and make him look like a douche. I don't condone my actions and every bit of poo poo that has gotten me in trouble I deserved it but all in all I am just a dick or rear end in a top hat or whatever people want to call me. I have had people from ages 14 all the way up to an 89 year old man challenge me to a fight in Vegas once about 5 years ago. It's in my blood and I don't know any other way to act.

Why are you gonna keep arguing that its bizarre and uncommon to want to beat up a dickhead pool player when the OP is confirming that people from 14 to 90 have tried to beat him up for being a dickhead pool player

This thread is all about hustling people at the pool table...
The uncle knew he could not win and yet still walked out even.. Sounds like a successful hustle to me.

That reminds me of a really good hustle I have where i find a "mark" and I take a gun and aim it at them, and threaten to kill them until they give me the money they have in their wallet.

A slight nitpick but running it more than once doesnt exactly prevent you from sucking out on him, it just reduces variance so you come closer to realizing your actual % equity in the pot. With a pair and open ender you have around 25% chance of winning that pot, so if you kept shuffling the deck and running it over and over and over you would eventually win the 25% of the pot that youre "owed" and he would win the other 75%. Its a very good idea to minimize short term swings since you get to play very few hands per hour in a live cash game, so if you want to reduce the gambliness of it then you can run it a few times. But then as you said since youre a gambler who is shipping your entire stack knowing you have the worst hand just for the sake of gambling thats kind of the opposite of what you want

Playing against the passive old men who are just sitting there waiting for AA or KK is the best way to pay for a vegas trip. If he had just reraised you preflop you wouldve ended up probably all-in preflop with him as a big favorite but instead he just flat calls for $15 and then shoves $2000 in a super connected flop just so he can grumble about how unlucky he is and how he always loses with aces. Ive never had one literally reach over and steal some chips though, that guy has balls

It just depends what you mean by gambling. If a guy offers me a coin flip where heads = I lose 5 bucks, and tails = I win 15 bucks, ill probably sit there all day doing it over and over. Even though im putting 5 bucks into the pot every time on a 50% chance, I have a definitive edge so its not much of a gamble. Is it gambling for the casino to run a roulette table? Theyre technically putting all their money up for grabs not knowing if players will win, its just that they have the bankroll to survive bad swings and overall the game gives an edge to the house, so I wouldnt really consider it gambling on the part of the casino

Poker is definitely a game of skill, even though theres gamble to it. Tons of people, including people on this forum make their living playing poker full time. They usually play thousands and thousands of hands a day and come out consistently winning over the course of millions of hands so luck is no longer much of a factor. But the entire reason its possible to make a living playing poker is because its a really fun game, and in the short term people can gamble it up and win, so you get lots of recreational money in the player pool. If it werent fun and gambly then the more skilled people wouldnt have anyone to make money off of
