Let's just UML and if the implementation fucks up it's the stupid programmer's fault. this is exactly right. development is a sliding scale. on one side is “put a bunch of smart people together and let them figure it out”. on the other side is “specify everything exactly and hire a bunch of idiots to type out the code as we designed it” UML is the far extreme of the latter. it turns out that specifying a program to operate correctly is at least as much, if not more, work than writing it and you need smarter people doing it. obviously this doesn’t actually work.
