Give it to me straight...
I will definitely be in for the rulebook, but it's taking all my willpower to stop me from throwing down a bundle to get a big PHR force.

If it wasn't for the costs of setting up my vacuum chamber/pressure pot system so I can cast my own scenery, I would likely be all over this.

Well if I get it I'll totally be going PHR, but I'd like to see some reviews and maybe download the rules before I make a huge commitment. I've never done 10mm so it's kind of exciting.

As far as I know they won't be doing downloads of the rules, but there may be excerpts appearing on the website. The rulebook's only £15 though which seems reasonable given the page count and the quality of their photography.

Think so? I totally disagree- I love the orange like that! Bright colors just kick people in the face so hard it's awesome. As much as I hate painting it, I'm digging the bright yellow I've going on an army I'm slowly working on now.

Considering an orange like that or a bright electric pink for whatever I buy next. Just because.

So my local hobby club has been creaming themselves over this stuff and near half of them have already put down for pre-orders. The guy I paint commission stuff for even asked if I wanted to put this last week's commission on a dropzone starter. Am I the only one that doesn't think these models look good? I guess the vehicles are well sculpted but the aesthetic looks really bad to me. I just don't get the appeal when we don't even know what the rules system is like. The terrain looks nice, at least.

I think the PHR look really bland. But then again, I also hate Eldar / Tau / Scyrah / Protoss and most stuff that looks similar to it.

The Scourge... I don't know, they're cool, but all of it looks way too similar for my tastes. Generic humans aren't bad.

Nah It's not that they look bad, it's just I don't think I could do it justice and orange isn't a colour I'm a fan of anyway. I'd probably go for a rich violet or something in comparison.

They're command and conquer as gently caress. For some people (like me) that's a really good thing. For others, it's hit or miss.

Hope you're having an amazing day

Will definitely pick up the rulebook at the very least, my regular gaming buddy is swearing himself off for the moment but he's a wargaming magpie, he'll cave eventually... and when he does, he'll cave big time.. that's when I'll strike :ninja:

My only quibble is that I love some models from every faction (barring the scourge) but at the same time, maybe half of each of the models available for the factions really don't appeal to me (a few of the PHR walkers... their flyers are sexual though, same deal with UCM, most of their tanks just look odd but their flyers are also awesome looking) so I'm torn. Closest bet at the moment is PHR but they seem to be quite a popular choice so far so I'd be more inclined to go in a different direction for some variety. Probably UCM but eh.

Will wait to make a decision on factions, plenty of time yet, but definitely down for the rulebook :)

Is it bad that I'm just as, if not more, excited for working with 10 mm scale scenery as I am for the new models?
The potential... cities, skyscrapers, industrial districts. And then the choice of whether or not to make it overgrown and abandoned.

Having said that, I still haven't painted the ridiculously expensive Games Workshop table I bought a year or two ago.

Good, build up her tolerance early. I've gotten it to the point where my wife lets me keep my figures out in the open. So long as I keep the house clean she's cool with it.

That is some durable resins they have there.

I love the tank and mech designs of the PHR, but love the dropship designs of the UCM. Too bad the dropship latch system is not designed to be interchangeable. That said, giant robots that are tough to kill sparks my interest and plan to get at least 9 of the PHR fighters it not for an army, then for use as Drone Fighters for my Tau Army in 40k.
