Literally The Worst posted:Anybody with an apple device should grab the BookCon preview off the store because it's got the first four (four!!!) chapters of the novel in it and it's real good I can't help but read it as Cecil. Definitely going for the audiobook on this one, but a signed Subterranean version would be amazing.

Steve is probably my favorite character in the podcast. He just so relatable as the well meaning and well informed guy that just doesn't quite know how to communicate what's wrong with the city. I'm worried that he's going to end up like someone in a "A Story About" episode.

Earwicker, was this a one off intro and outro? I really liked it, even more than the new one(not that I don't like that one also). The episodes you've produced have been fantastic!

Was anyone else kind up upset at how understanding Keisha was with Alice leaving without any notice or contact? I feel like for the entire rest of this season she's been mad, and at some points rage filled about her abandonment. Then Alice shows up for 2 minutes and suddenly they are mutually at fault? She didn't even provide any kind of explanation for leaving, other than "bad stuff is happening and I have to take care of it".

I'll preface this by saying that I love the show and donate monthly, so definitely don't take the following as me hating on the show. I have nothing against the tumblr fans of the show, but some of the stuff I've seen come from there has been a bit cringeworthy. There's been some really cool artwork / cosplay come from there also. All that being said, I do agree that it sometimes seems like they're trying overly hard to be inclusive and sometimes that takes me a bit out of the show. Not sure that Booblord isn't trying to troll a bit, but at least he wrote a couple of detailed posts about his issues instead of just yelling SJW over and over like you would see on reddit. e: Today I learned word filters are still a thing. Finally got a chance to start on Episodes Vol 1 and am loving it. The behind the scenes notes are really interesting and the artwork is great. Question though: when you give the scripts to Cecil do you include stage direction, or just let him interprete it as he sees fit? Moments that come to mind are parts like THE BROWNSTONE SPIRE.

My favorite segment is Traffic, and this basically felt like a full length episode of it. I do get why some people prefer more plot driven episodes.

extradite THIS! posted:I thought this was an outstanding episode as well. You don't always need to drive the plot forward. In fact it was kind of old-school Night Vale, just a neat little standalone thing. I had goosebumps nearly the entire way through! I've seen other people suggest that this episode was an intentional return to the feel of early Night Vale since it's episode 101.

I don't know, the first time I recall hearing of The Dark Planet was in A Story About You which has to be in Upper Night Vale since You are responsible for moving the crates of miniature Night Vale. I always took it as a straight metaphor for death, or at least what you see before you die.

Loved this weeks Alice. I finally figured out why I like the antagonist this season so much. I rewatched MI3 this weekend and her delivery reminds me a lot of Phillip Seymour Hoffman. It really adds to the menace

So there is a new podcast on the network by a guy called Chuck Tingle. I googled him and left far more confused than when I started. Can someone give us a rundown on him? The best I can tell is a combination of romance novels, the new yorker, mcsweeney's, and hardcore gay porn.

I’m holding maxnmona personally responsible for the detour I had to take off of I35 this morning. I listened to the new episode yesterday and laughed at the bit about the trip from Dallas to Austin taking forever. I think being late to my first meeting this morning was my punishment from whatever gods have dominion over the roads.

I'm surprised this thread has been so dead, because the last few months of episodes are among some of my favorites in the series. The latest with Lee Marvin was the first episode in a long time where I started it in the car and then paused it 3 minutes in so I could listen to it on my proper sound system. The Dark Planet, the continued time fuckery, "Past performance is not a predictor of future results", it was all just perfect. Ya'll rock, keep it up.

WhiteHowler posted:For some reason I assumed the dark planet was only seen by the miniature Night Vale in the ball return behind lane five of the Desert Flower Bowling Alley and Arcade Fun Complex. Nah, you first hear about it in A Story About You, just before you die. Edit: The Dark Planet is a metaphor or symbolization for death, right? That’s the way I’ve been reading for the last couple years. LASER BEAM DREAM fucked around with this message at 16:17 on May 20, 2019 |
