I had a co-worker who had one of these. I offered him my copy of Pulp Fiction to see what would happen. He declined.

I watched that earlier today and that just seems insane. What movie is there that has profanity you wouldn't want your children to hear but doesn't also have questionable visuals or themes as well?

There was a company that would rent edited DVDs with all the naughty bits removed. They got sued out of existence.

Does anyone else remember the urban legend/email circular about the TV anti-profanity device which renamed Dick Van Dyke "Jerk Van Gay"? Snopes had an article debunking it. Presumably the TVGuardian was the inspiration.

Family Guy did it.

I have one of those NC scribers I found on the roadside sorry for the crummy old photo

Mine needs new belts and has a dead lcd but when I first picked it up I could put a pen in the holder and make it write what I typed on that wacky alphabetical keyboard, all up it weighs about 13 pounds due to there being a great big honkin power transformer inside the briefcase style base station.

That looks like something you'd see on the Mission Impossible TV show.

Plus modern albums feel durable enough that I don't feel like I might break them just taking them out of the sleeve, old albums were cheap AF in that regard.

I have albums that are 40+ years old that are pretty sturdy. It's not like they are those shellac 78s that break if you look at them hard enough.

As predicted (sort of) by Max Headroom. In that future, it was illegal to turn off your TV. Some people are shown throwing a blanket over their set when they wanted some privacy.

I wanna say that's probably (ironically) because it was such a failed format.

Laserdiscs were always premium and we're bought by middle class people who probably just trashed it or sold it in a yard sale when they got tired of it. But CEDs bombed so hard that they got all bought up by like, Columbia Clearing House/etc, to sell in bundles to budget conscious consumers. Who are also the type to hang onto things long after they're obsolete simply because they paid good money for them at some point in the past.

So then those boomers up and died and their hoarding explodes into every goodwill or thrift store in a twenty mile radius.

I bought an LD player in 1992 and was in the Columbia House LD Club for about a year. I still have the player. but the last time I tried to use it, it would kick the disc back out or display a no disc error. Possibly a belt issue?

I had an Instamatic X15F. I found one on ebay a few years ago. I bought it just as a doo-dad to put on a shelf, but came across a roll of 126 film (about 45 years old). I'm going to shoot it and send it off. I'm pretty sure nothing will come of it.
