The Unspecifieds had the 2nd worst cup record, but we still kept pace with the Finger-Bangers until the last couple weeks and avoided the gauntlet. With wild cards in place now, there are several expansion teams that I think have a good shot at a playoff spot.

cbx posted:Who's looking for fair? I'm looking to challenge the status quo. The status quo is that the Super League brutally winnows each expansion class down to the two or so teams capable of being realistic competitors. Just this year, the Barons, Tornadoes, Gumshoes, and arguably Mashers and Bloggers are teams in a position to make the playoffs or at least survive to next year. The Cultists won their division in their first year. The very best teams undergo Macho Man-based attrition. Your plan might change which teams succeed, but it won't change this calculus. It seems frustrating to new teams because most of them are in the 80-90% that will die, but there's no avoiding that inevitable outcome. Honestly, I'm sympathetic to some of these issues, but the system we have now seems like the best compromise. And really, at this point you're just complaining about Marauder. The Losers have only been around for 3 seasons - is that too long to be interesting? If so, should we just kill every team after its second year? No, it seems to me that these complaints always come back to Marauder's teams, and the truth there is that he's been lucky that the Finger-Bangers haven't won the league since Macho-Manning became a thing and that Smasher has still failed to put a good DH team in the Phoenixes' division. In conclusion, we should appreciate what we have, and not try to come up with crazy plans to stack expansion teams in order to "challenge" a largely imaginary "status quo." In several seasons, when the Rakers or Catastrophes or some other expansion team are 16 games ahead of their division, someone will complain about how the old teams are just too good and the cycle will begin anew.

The Gauntlet was one such idea back in the day, admittedly it's a much better idea. But change doesn't happen by sitting idle. Yeah, I didn't mean to direct that whole thing at you, my apologies. It's just that the idea reminded me of how we get several complaints about "old teams dominating" (including from me in the past!) and I wanted to write a bit on why I disagree with that now. I don't think there's anything wrong with proposing ideas to tweak the Super League to make it better (though I do think that your idea would just shift power among expansion teams in unpredictable ways, which I'm not sure is a good thing), and I didn't mean to seem like I was trying to shut down ideas. Sorry if I came off a little aggressive!

Baker should be starting at 3B over Traynor and Jackson should be starting in LF over Oliva. Also, Jeter should be batting second, Cabrera fourth, Hornsby fifth, and Baker eighth. Other than that, everything looks good. Also, one question: how soon do I need to bring up starting pitchers from the minors before they start to decay? I remember you mentioning that they become unusable if they stay in the minors for a long time, and I'd like to potentially rotate some of them in.
