This reminds me of Nightshade on NES. Can you send it or enable download?
If I don't use it, a friend of mine probably would.
Don't worry about exclusivity, I don't care if anyone uses the same beat as me because I'm going to kill them on it either way.

yay first time i managed to actually sample something for a beat. all my other ones have been all original instrumentation. samples are from El Guincho - Bombay. planning on using this beat myself unless you are really good at rapping and want to use it, fyi

EDIT: also fyi as always i am open to collab with people in this thread that don't think rapping over the Bird on a Wire beat in their closet on their android phone is a good idea. get in touch if you wanna do a project. especially over this holiday time at the end of the year

Liking this beat. Did you have an idea for it? We gotta get a session going with me, you and thndrthf.

Anyway, I asked one of the guys I know why he still uses an MPC 2000XL when all this great software is available, and he said the following: because you can capture any little snare, high-hat, drum loop, bass, etc. and using the pads, make the beat yourself instead of relying on finding a drum loop that matches your sample perfectly, which can be hard. The pads allow you to have physical user input rather than looking at a waveform".

You can do this with Ableton too. You don't need to find drum loops. You can play out drums from whatever sample you want.
You can take a drum loop or whatever and slice it to a track where you can play each part button-by-button.

I have played a lot of music and I have listened to a lot of hip hop but I haven't really combined the two until recently. I would love to get some critiques on my recent forays, both of which I used very different methods to produce:

Are you looking for anyone to rap over this?

I like the second one too but it seems more interlude-ish if I'm thinking rap-wise.

I'd love to at least listen to the first one in rotation and see what I come up with if you can send it or enable downloads. My email is streetdoctors.com@gmail.com

Hey guys, it's me again. I just put a mixtape out last night featuring production from Chwoka and Ayatollah Hermione. I'd really appreciate it if I could get some analysis on what I can improve about my mixing process, writing, presentation...anything really. Thanks in advance for taking a look

I'm curious if the overly frequent punch-ins is a stylistic choice or a crutch to avoid having to know your verse well enough to spit it straight through.
I only played the first track. I'm just very turned off by punch-ins unless it's clearly done for style purposes and not every bar.

Yeah I definitely thought it was a klan hood when I saw it on instagram and thought it was weird/didn't get it.

Track is dope though. I like the chops and effects when the vocals get weird.

Ladle Lady posted:

That's the only song that kind of thing is done on. I was attempting to do that cliche thing where 'it sounds like two dudes but it's actually one!!!' and clearly it didn't work this time. I definitely, definitively memorize each verse in and out before I record.

Word my fault for only listening to the first one.

There is a freestyle club at my uni that wants me to make a 'group joint' for everyone in the group the group to put a verse on similar to 1 train or oldie by odd future.

I've put down a couple of ideas but nothing that I think could be listenable for 6-8 minutes. I'm thinking that I should keep it as simple as possible but with an interesting enough sample to hold people's attention.

So yeah, what are some of your favorite 'squad' tracks?
