Then you must have loved the 20 episodes centered around his love for the trumpet guy.

I actually did like it until he called him in to give advice. It seemed like he was just having him on to spite the people who didn't like him as much as Besser thought they should.

Besser has this attitude about his own opinions that I just plain don't like, and hearing those opinions met with confusion, or better yet negativity or silence, is a pretty decent source of entertainment for me.

I feel like Spontaneanation has really hit its stride the past month or two. The narratives are much more coherent, and the sound effects finally feel well utilized. They're acting kind of like Family Guy cutaways these days, but plot-driven rather than hacky gag-driven.

I honestly think it all changed when the proper sound board was built. Having a physical thing to press instead of having to press a thing on a screen makes a big difference, and now that the main players are set with how the buttons all work, everything flows a bit better.

The worst parts of any podcast, from most to least:
1. If they have an engineer or tech guy and there's a part of the show where he talks. (Bret and Cody excluded, of course)
2. Any call in segment for any reason.
3. mail bag
4. Any time a LA pod cast has a New York Standup as a guest.
5. Live music

So, any non-suggestion, non-intern interview part on I4H.

If the guests are right, and the musicians don't give a poo poo about you making fun of something in their song, then music episodes aren't too bad. It only gets bad when Besser has them play a song for every scene, which I don't think he's done the last few. Constantly asking what lyrics mean isn't particularly productive, and the guy on the most recent one who was like "It's just a song about being high at the Casa Mañana" was the best.

I just wish he would get more than just mopey alt-country guys.

It kind of reminds me of the reports I heard from Howl users. Content is good, service is bad, app is sort of difficult to navigate. I guess maybe I'm too used to Netflix and Hulu's streamlining, but Seeso's menu system always seemed a bit obtuse for me.

So far, I've only used it to watch MBMBaM and Harmonquest, so I'll probably have to get around to watching Bajillion soon before the site goes away.

To be fair to them, I'm not sure how much of that is in their hands. They probably have the right to distribute their own content however they see fit, but because it had things like Kids in the Hall and Monty Python on it, they probably really had their hands tied as to what regions they could be available in without having different sites dedicated to different regions. Which why would they if they didn't know if it would succeed?

It took me way longer to get through Harmonquest than it should've because it just wouldn't play a few episodes when I tried the first time. I hadn't heard of Feral before, and it seems pretty cool. Seems like what Earwolf was intended to be/used to be. Like, I can't believe I just found out that there's a podcast hosted by Pete & Pete. He didn't get on w/ Eric Ulrich and I think had the same objection to the standard contract Earwolf uses that Cyberthug had (whose actual name I forget). Isn't Artist Owned, Listener Supported the MaxFun tagline?

And yeah, I remember the Earwolf character thing being mentioned before, and that's why some shows either left or avoided them entirely. It's probably why Spont and I4H work so well on there, since nothing is a recurring character on those shows.

But the other weird thing mentioned in it was that apparently she got pregnant and miscarried a few years ago. I remember people, I think in these forums, speculating that the two of them were having issues trying to conceive based off of something that Scott or Kulap was saying on podcasts. Guess it's confirmed :(

I... Uhhh... Think Scott very passively made a joke about this, and I honestly can't remember what bit it was during. He very sheepishly says that he and his wife are trying, and failing, to conceive, and he's talked right over by whatever character is on. I can't believe that was real.

e: Might've been during Jack S'Junior/Brian Pieces when they asked whether he had a family. Could arguable have been a joke that long ago, I guess, but still.

I stopped listening to I4H regularly after the, like, 3rd or 4th time he had that trumpet yelling guy on, and then I think had a Case Closed in the same episode, or for a majority of the next or something. So much of the show became filled with stuff that wasn't improv that I couldn't be bothered anymore. And I'm a guy who didn't mind the music episodes.

See, your 2nd point was my thing with Spont. There are a small handful of people that are absolutely excellent on the show, like Blasucc, Amanda Lund, Little Janet Varney, Colleen Smi, etc... and there was no consistency to the genuinely good people appearing. I listened for the first time in about a month this week because of Blasucc and Lund, and I don't think I've laughed as hard at anything in the show as at the conversation about dreams, and the improv itself wasn't bad, but probably could've used a 4th. B99 is like Shur's other shows in that it takes about 5 episodes for it to get any good. It's worth checking out if you can put up with Samberg's early bad character work.

Ghosted seems like it might be OK, because it's got Scott (2) and Craig Robinson in it, so unless it's expensive to make, it's probably going to get a decent chance to show itself off.
