Seconding subscribing to McKennas podcast because I have a huge crush on her it sounds great!

Also, Spencer from Harmontown on Hollywood Handbook :vince: And they "play a game"? Is this going to be a make fun of Harmontown ep with a pretend Dungeons & Dragons bit? Oh boy. Also Spencer is usually more than game to slyly poo poo on Dan/everything.

Speaking of being too cool: I just got back from Montreal where a friend lives and managed to time it with the just for laughs festival. I managed to see High and Mighty live and then talk to Jon Gabrus afterwards. I feel like this is the only crowd who gets how big deal that is.

Especially to a Swede who thought he'd never see any of this live.

I could see HH at least re-branding or re-launching around episode #200. It's kind of far from the initial synopsis that a new listener would read about the show before listening, making it even more difficult for a new listener.

The whole "making your dumb podcast better" shtick is amazing new direction and worth its own podcast format.

Just in case you haven't listened, the Hollywood Handbook boys had an old podcast called The Reality Show Show which is fantastic.

Edit: I'm loving The Teacher's Lounge, but Drew Tarver's character's voice has gotten really nasal and obnoxious since the end of Season 3 and it's hard to listen to. I don't know if that was a conscious decision or what, but I hope he abandons that voice decision soon.
in season 4 they're normal now so it's not a problem

There’s a report out at the moment that says most people are listening to complete episodes, and not skipping ads. Has to be a good thing for networks/advertisers.

I mash that +15sec button like no tomorrow in most shows I listen to personally, but hey.
It specifically mentions Hollywood Handbook too!
https://www.wired.com/story/apple-podcast-analytics-first-month

Wired article posted:

There’s also reason to believe that ads on podcasts will become increasingly entertaining—something so organic to a show itself that you might not want to skip it. “When it really does feel like part of a show, there’s less of a skip rate, which just confirms what we’ve been telling advertisers for years and years,” says Midroll’s Diehn, noting that when Earwolf put Hollywood Handbook on Stitcher Premium and removed the show’s ads, listeners actually complained. “Native spots in the style of the show keep people engaged, keep them from skipping, and now we have data that frankly proves it.”

I've been thinking about this one, 'problem' is they spread out the references so much and through so many episodes sometimes it just sort of becomes a clip show and doesn't have the same impact. Also my memory is terrible of which episodes those are.

But that first one should be easy enough to find, was Rapid Fire right? Ol' squarehead Brandon Lee

One of the best starter for HH wasn't that long ago: Triumph at Comic-Con.
https://www.earwolf.com/episode/triumph-at-comic-con/

It's the boys recording the day after a disastrous live show at Comic-Con going through the show and dying of shame. Also with most of it being clips from a live-show there's not much in the way of in-jokes.

"One thing I was worried about, was the Comic-Con audience not being particularly "open" to people who weren't exactly like them poking light fun at the very thing they were there to celebrate.
- Extremely light.
For example saying the Hulk is just a green version of Ben Grimm. It turns out we were wrong, they LOVED that! BEST sense of humor about comic book stuff"

Don't just take my word for it, here's some random people saying that thing we always are afraid about to tell others about this show
