This fills me with joy and sadness because I know that 2016 cannot possibly be half as amazing. There were no bad ideas floated in those (smoky) back rooms. Every single expensive crazy idea got a subcommittee behind it and got made for public consumption.

Like how that Clint Eastwood chair thing really happened.

Yeah well we said there was no way that 2012 could be half as great as 2008. Keep your hopes up! I'm sure the Republicans will do their due diligence to keep us entertained next election.

You guys give the Republicans too much credit. Will they be crazy? Of course, they've had crazy poo poo going on since at least Ford vs. Reagan. Its going to be up to the open Democratic primary to push 2016 over the edge in craziness.

One of Clint Eastwood's conditions for making a speech at the DNC was that he didn't have to run it by Romney's campaign for approval beforehand. He just asked for an extra chair minutes before going on stage. One of Romney's advisers vomited backstage when he realized what Eastwood was doing.

If it's anything like the last set of off years, they'll spend an extraordinary amount of time talking about Minority Leader Pelosi, then spread the rest around a cast of characters including Harry Reid, DWS, etc. Reid's tougher because he's a plain-faced, straight talking white dude, so you have to learn to hate him, but put someone like Pelosi or DWS on a GOP direct mail piece and the money flows in. Hell, even I find DWS obnoxious and difficult to sit through (Pelosi just seems like any soulless politician to me, no different than Reid).

If Hillary ends up in office, she will, of course, be the apple of their collective eyes.

Yeah, it's like an autonomic response for me. Like when you smell something dead on the side of the road and you get that gag reflex. I'm always surprised when people are like, "What's so annoying about her?" It's like asking what's so annoying about Gilbert Gottfried or Mary Matalin or something. If you don't see it, I guess it doesn't exist for you, but man it hits me like a wave.

A Representative with a name too long to write out who was also head of the DNC for this debacle and whose tenure at the DNC was particularly controversial. In fairness to her, it was an off-year election with a Democratic incumbent who has low approval is generally going to go this way - especially with such a directionless party leadership. She's merely a symptom of the problem with the Democratic Party, not the cause or anything.

But I sort of want to see him translate his "Scroogled" mantra into something that can lose a primary to Biden.
