I used to work (as a civ employee) for a one-star who would take a radar gun from the MA's and go write people tickets when he was pissed of about something. He also used to randomly grab whoever happened to be within his line of sight to go do dumb poo poo like sweep gravel or pick up cigarette butts in front of his HQ.

They had their day, but they're so caught up in their own mythos and status that they can't see how obsolete the whole idea is. In a hundred years special forces guys doing a combat drop will be as novel as riding horses in Afghanistan was in 2001.
In a hundred years if we don't have Space Marines yet none of this was worth it.
